Morton Plant North Bay Hospital- Recovery Center

"I was on a involuntary baker act hold in 2011 (was about 13 at the time) I still have nightmares about this place. And from the recent reviews I can see it truly has not changed but worsened. Please do not send your children here. We had to “earn” phone calls regardless if you wanted to make a call or family was trying to reach you. If you do not follow the rules, you do not get that phone call. If you miss one session of therapy or refuse to discuss anything in front of everyone; you do not get that phone call. They hold everything over your head and when I say everything I mean, literally everything. Including showers they got to the point where I had to be watched at all times to take a shower, even though I was not suicidal. And showers are maybe five minutes long if you are lucky. Even though they tell parents that you can send personal belongings, such as hygiene, products, clothing, shoes, and what not. Are you still do not get nearly half of it, instead, you are given their products. And I would have to earn my products to be used. If you do not eat your food, or they are serving something that you cannot eat, but do not replace you are punished for not eating. When I say, I have nightmares about this place to this day, it has traumatized me in so many ways and I am still trying to heal."

"I am up at 3am because I cannot sleep after my child’s nurse told me they don’t have time to update parents. I never received a phone call from staff in a week about how my son was progressing. Was he having a hard time? Was he doing well and being compliant? Was he doing any therapies? Was he just sitting in his room staring at the wall? I don’t know, because outside of the small window that I get to visit him, I don’t know what is happening to him while he’s there. When I asked the nurse about this she said their patient ratios are too high for them to have the time to call about anything other than an ETO (Emergency Treatment Order). I went to visitation and my son was covered in a rash, when we notified the day nurse, he was dismissive and at first told us there was nothing there. Upon actually examining my son he saw it and said he would notify the APRN. My son said he had notified nursing staff the day previous but that they just told him to put lotion on it. This is just one incident of several that have left me appalled. This facility does not follow the Baycare Culture or Values. The only exception is their receptionist who deserves several high-fives for her compassionate and kind care she shows to families as they navigate the crisis their loved ones are going through. My child was at St.Joesph in November and they could teach North Bay Recovery a thing or two about the Baycare Values. This facility is equivalent to Grace Point. Do better North Bay Recovery Center, you give Baycare a bad name."

"I want to take a moment to say,how wonderful and amazing Max is... There are great nurses on pediatrics and Max has such a nice and kind heart ..Thanks for all the staff and all you do.. I am Victoria's aunt that is currently on your unit. May God richly bless you all Merry Christmas"

"Are they perfect? Absolutely not. Is the facility bare bones for amenities? Yep. But the staff is overworked and under appreciated. Some are mote jaded than others, but these people are 100% doing their best every single day. Working with mentally unstable patients every day must be exhausting. I will forever be grateful to these people for getting me back into a position to be able to get back into society while having a safe place to stay. Special thanks to awesome employees like Troy, Jackie, Peter, Luisilla, Laura, Alriel, and Bryan. I know there are names I’ve forgotten at this point, but those are ones I know and remember that they helped make that place better and help patients as much as possible. Keep it up and thank you!!"
