"I have recently had a procedure at SMH Venice radiology nursing. From the time of my arrival till my procedure was complete, was a wonderful experience. The Radiology Manager Cathy was exceptional. She treated me and my family with so much wonderful care. She went over and above to make us feel comfortable. My nurse Michele was just as wonderful. What a wonderful hospital. would reccomend SMH Venice to all. The physican was exceptional too. Thank you SMH Venice will continue to have my health care needs met at this facility. Wonderful care, and staff"
"Before reading the previous reviews I believed that my terrible experience was an isolated case. It turns out that the issues I experienced with the ER appear to be the norm. I want to share that the staff was professional and friendly. They were honest about the situation, few doctors, no beds. But, here is the problem. My husband came in complaining of chest pains and high blood pressure. He was seen in triage and blood was taken and processed. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. After close to 9 hours my husband was taken from the waiting room to be seen by the doctor. He was put in the hallway where he continued to wait. I appreciate the hard work the staff is putting in. I can't imagine what it must be like to work in a hospital that is overwhelmed. But, there’s got to be a better way. Additionally, the cafeteria closes at 7pm. So all you have as food/drink options is vending machines. We were in waiting room from 2:45pm until 1:15am."
"I recently had a Cholecystectomy performed at the Venice campus of SMH. From the moment I arrived at this facility, the treatment was superb. Everyone was kind and helpful. The pre admission testing was extremely thorough. The registration process was easy. The presurgery care was outstanding. The surgical and anesthesia team were exemplary and a special thanks to them for watching the YouTube videos prior to my surgery (lol). My hand was held when I needed it. The jokes to decrease my anxiety were a definite plus. The post surgical care was magnificent. My needs were tended to quickly and expeditiously. My pain was well managed. The techs were very responsive to my needs. A special shout out to the 2 individuals who were able to get the IV's started and a "way to go" to the nurses who were determined to get my IV's started by through no fault of theirs were unsuccessful. I just have small, bad veins. My apologies. In conclusion, although it's obvious, I am super satisfied and grateful for the care I received. Dr. Willkomm is a wonderful surgeon!! Thank you."
"It is a beautiful building. All the latest technologies. Upon entering, we were extremely impressed. Super friendly, great service, quickly through check-in and triage. We got into the room, and the doctor was there almost immediately. All of this within around 30 minutes. From there, it was all downhill. The staff stayed extremely friendly... WHEN we saw them. We are actually still sitting here after 6+ hours waiting. Bloodwork and urine were done basically upon arrival. Radiology was about 2 hours after arriving. The doctor is supposed to be coming in with info. Hopefully, we will be discharged soon..... with some added urgency and less waiting, it would have been a much higher rating."
"For a new facility, I had an awful experience. I was involved in a vehicle accident. I went to the emergency room to avoid the extra expense of an ambulance ride. When I arrived, I told them I was just in an accident and hit my head during the accident and was having back and neck pain. They sat me in a chair in the hallway for over 6 hours. No one checked on me, offered me a blanket or anything. I sat there crying in pain while dozens of staff continually walked by and totally ignored me. Once they took me into a room, the gentleman who was asking me why I was there never looked at me. He stated someone would be in shortly. The individual who came in took me to get a CT and Mri. They wouldn't help me out of the wheelchair or onto the table. I seemed to be an inconvenience for them. When done, they said your free Togo. Again, no help getting up and back in the wheelchair safely. In the end, I was billed for over 9 thousand dollars to sit in a hallway for hours in pain, treated like I was a bother. Not to mention, they had no concern for me or my injuries. This is supposed to be a state of the art hospital. It was the worst experience I have ever encountered in an hospital. The staff were rude and didn't seem to want to be there. I felt like I went to some walk in clinic in another country. I left with nothing for the pain. Human interaction was absolutely horrible and leaving an accident victim suffering in a hallway for over 6 hours is absolutely terrible and ridiculous."
