"My brother and I got our open water certification this past weekend with MBT. Billy G was our instructor and was so amazing. Really fun guy, answered all our questions, made sure everyone was comfortable and getting the skills down. It was cold out but Billy's positive attitude got everyone through it - he worked with us too to choose training dive sites that would be more optimal given the weather. Our other brother who already dives had booked a charter the day after we got our certification with Captain Dave and Jason as Dive Master and it was amazing. Despite the cold, we saw a really cool wreck and they provided us a lot of guidance. Billy G's training definitely left us very confident for our first boat dive though. Everyone at the shop was so nice and helped us get our gear the day of our pool session. I would recommend trying to get your mask and fins in advance and testing the fit in a pool or the ocean if you can before the training - if you've never worn them before it's difficult to tell if they'll fit you correctly when you're in the water. We travelled from Chicago to MBT since our brother lives in Florida, but I would certainly travel here again for further certifications because of the thorough training and great atmosphere that the trainers and staff at MBT provide. "My siblings and I took our SDI Open Water Diving certification through MBT and couldn’t have had a better experience. Billy G taught our class and took us on our training dives -- we learned all the skills, safety, and equipment and then some, to the point where we felt exceptionally prepared and as calm as possible when actually diving. Diving in February is cold, but Billy made it very fun and very worthwhile despite the weather and was an all around outstanding instructor. MBT staff fit us for the equipment we bought and had very reasonable rental fees for what we didn’t want to buy. Plus, when a piece of gear had issues with function or fit, they helped us get the right fixes and exchanged purchased gear when necessary without any fuss. Between Billy G and MBT in general, I 100% recommend you do your business here for anything diving."

"Called a local dive shop in Birmingham AL in November looking to get certified, and while they offered no classes in the winter, they recommended MBT. I called up and the ladies answered the phone and gave me a quick run down of the process for online courses and then dive class where at least four people are needed. I followed up with them at the 1st of December and was scheduled for the next week. Made a five hour trip down and completed the Open Water/Nitrox SDI class in three days. Day one is classroom/pool. Day 2 due to the weather we had to carpool to Vortex Springs and dive the clear 68* waters. Day 3 we completed the certification with a bay dive at a local man made reef. There are some other additional costs you shouldn’t skimp on for gear. You will be provided a wetsuit, BCD, regulator. Masks, snorkel, fins, and booties are better purchased at the shop with a student discount where they properly fit you for gear. Skip the Amazon purchase. Expect to spend ~$250-300 in addition to the class in gear, but it’s worth it for quality gear. They will clean your mask for you and plenty of antifog is available during class. Billy is a great instructor who will coach you and after three days I’m ready to go hit Mexico!"

"I had a fantastic experience with my Open Water & Nitrox Certification. Billy was awesome at making the class fun and comprehensive. Several of the ladies in the shop were super helpful in helping me find the exact gear I needed and even special ordered some for me.
