Reviews of Crest at Midtown Apartments
"Visited the property on an impulse as it was on the same strip in my area of interest. The office staff is overwhelmingly friendly. Although only working with one person, each staff member I encountered, greeted me and anticipated my every need. I even was offered refreshments which is rare in a leasing environment. Kudos to this entire staff. The property did not have the amenities to fit my needs, but if I were to lease anywhere, it be here. Just because of the staff."
"They have a very friendly office staff. The location is perfect being in the center of midtown. Don’t believe all the negative stuff you see, half of them are just over privileged people complaining about things out of the community’s control. Homelessness is everywhere throughout downtown. The actual units are very much so worth the price. Affordable places in midtown are hard to come by. I recommend Crest at Midtown"
"UPDATE: after writing this review, I spoke to Jennifer who addressed all of my concerns and was very understanding. After having a better grasp of what she has been through trying to fix the elevator I would like to update and say that I feel although it’s still a pain to deal with, it is not by fault of property management who is doing what they can with what they have. As far as the increase in rent goes, that is also not by fault of property management. It is the owner of the property and just how they run things. As the saying goes, “there’s no room for feelings in business,” but that only holds true for the property owners and not the property management. Jennifer was very understanding of my situation and did everything in her power to make me satisfied so I will continue to be a resident here. After understanding both sides of this situation, I’m not nearly as upset with the amenities or the elevator. I still feel the same way about the raise in rent. I understand that all apartments are doing it and this area is on the rise. However, I still feel a little bitter about there being no incentives for good longer term residents who value this property and always have rent on time, but rent specials for tenants that may move in and treat the property poorly. Overall, Jennifer really made me reconsider if I actually want to move or not. This is by far the most professional and the nicest leasing office staff you will find in Atlanta, and all of the issues are common in any apartments in the city. The only thing I can really say, is consider if you can afford the rent increases for the time you are choosing to stay, and please be nice to the people in the leasing office who are just doing their best to keep this property nice. I’ve been a resident at Crest at Midtown for 2 1/2 years. Maintenance does come quickly if there are any problems, and it’s not a bad place to live. All in all I’ve truly felt at home. HOWEVER, beware that for the high price you pay, the amenities are always either broken or nonexistent. When I moved in there was supposed to be a rooftop hot tub, it never even had water in it. I still enjoyed hanging out on the rooftop though. In February of this year, I broke my back. The elevator had been broken since December and stayed broken until may. That meant for the entire time I was trying to recover, I had to walk up and down stairs. The elevator was only fixed for a very short time until it was broken again and still remains broken. Also, in March they announced the rooftop would be closed to build a pool. It is November, and the rooftop still remains closed and the pool is not finished. THE LEAST this apartment company could do is offer a discount for the lack of amenities that were originally offered, but are not currently accessible. The last and BIGGEST issue is the apparent “bait and switch” tactic. They will offer a “rent special” to make it seem like you’re getting a good deal, and then every time you need to renew the lease they increase it by so much it will eventually price you out. They claim it’s because it’s pro-rated and out of their control. But then, answer me this: why is there so much incentive for first time residents, but absolutely no incentive for good longer term residents? They could obviously afford it if they wanted to, but getting the large deposits from first time residents is more important. When I first moved here my base rent was $1450 and $1550 after fees, it is now $1750 and in February they want to increase it to $1850 which would be $1950 after fees. That’s $400 more, sitting at a steep 27.58% increase over 2.5 years. Unfortunately, although I have truly considered this place my home, I believe I will end up having to give my notice and move out when it comes time to renew my lease again. This is a decent property for a short term rental, but do not plan on calling it home because it eventually becomes too expensive and you don’t even get any of the amenities offered for the price."
"I've been here almost a year. The staff is nice and maintenance comes really quick! I just think the fees are a bit high and also when I moved in last February, they promised that a pool was going to be built on the rooftop before summer. The pool is still under construction (it's November) and has made the rooftop inaccessible. A big reason why I moved here was because of the rooftop area and the promise of the pool so I do feel like they lied to me when I signed my lease. The elevators also often smell like urine and the trash compactor fills up too quickly and smells terrible. (don't live in building 4 if you want to avoid the trash smell.) Other than that, it's been a fantastic place to live and like I said, the staff are all amazing and kind!"
"Do NOT live here. The complex is over-priced and falling apart. Every time it rains, the hallways flood and there are constant leaks around the property. Management is unhelpful and security is nonexistent. The elevators and gates are constantly broken, the package room is disgusting and the rooftop was "under construction" the entire 6 months I lived here. My car was broken into (on the 6th floor) and management couldn't be bothered to check security cameras or even offer assistance, even after a police report was filed. The property manager (Jennifer) hides in her office and avoids any sort of confrontation, because she knows the complex is deteriorating. She even refused to return my pet deposit after my 13 year old dog passed away only 2 weeks after I moved in. Ignore anything positive that's being said in the reviews lately, it's not based in reality and I suspect they are paying people to leave positive reviews. I only lived here for 6 months and couldn't wait to leave."
