"I'm very grateful for the Barclay Hotel. It was affordable and convenient. My room was clean. The elevator worked. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I honestly felt at home. Special shout out to Angela and Chris. Both made me feel welcome and comfortable. I was concerned because of other reviews I had read, but my room was clean, didn't get tripped up in elevator ever, no homeless people in the lobby. The building is older yes, but so am I! I honestly feel this place is very well maintained, clean, friendly and the location was perfect. Within minutes of everywhere I needed to go. My cat was safely parked in an inside garage at probably the best daily rate in the city. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you for being a safe, affordable and clean place to call home for the weekend."

"We had a miserable experience here. We paid for a king suite and surprisingly when we arrived.. no king. How about two doubles. We had no other options but accept, thinking that the only thing unusual would be the bed(s). Not so lucky. We had to go park our car in the crappiest parkade across the street. The room was about 100 degrees F. The thermostat was set to heat and turned all the way hot.. okay no problem, I'll turn on the air conditioner. The temperature from the vent changed NONE. I waited an hour and figured it would be better to just have it off. I turned it off and thought maybe I could crack the window open. I could open the window if I wanted but it would open onto a concrete wall. The room was sweltering for hours. The cockroach in the bathroom was just a small nuisance in comparison. By the time we got to morning after minimal sleep (because it was hot) the shower with no hot water just seemed like "of course". We wont be back. I will warn any of my friends or family not to go there. You read what happened with us, I'll leave it to you to judge if you want to go"

"I initially didn't mind the dated look, but there were cockroaches in the room. The room was also dusty and air conditioning was not working at all, so it was quite warm during the day. I had to cancel the rest of my stay, and the lady at the reception tried her best to accommodate my needs. I was charged more than I paid for each night, but I could not get a hold of the manager."

"Listen to all the other bad reviews. The rooms are gross and we even had a few bugs crawling around (not bedbugs thankfully). The elevator barely functions and is borderline dangerous. We also got locked out of our rooms for awhile because the key cards stopped working in the middle of our stay. Stay somewhere else unless this is your last resort."
