"I have received a bill that they did not send to insurance. I called three months ago and gave them insurance to send and even followed up and they claimed it was submitted and would take 45 days. We are three months later and I received the same bill and it is now late. They will not send to insurance. I called insurance and gave them the information too and they can’t get anything from them. This company has been a nightmare and I would not use them again."

"American Anesthesiology / aka Piedmont Anesthesia Associates, LLC: The patient accounts / billing department of Piedmont Anesthesia Associates, LLC operate non-standard ways of working, engage in unreasonable practices, do not concern themselves with practical resolution of outstanding matters, are not patient centric, do not follow through with communication committments and refuse to provide the most basic of detailed billing, business and accounting documentation for patients. Do not use this practice for medical services if given the choice, and if you had to on an emergent basis, immediately contact the medical provider to be an advocate to the unqualified and malfeasant business office. The billing office failed to provide a detailed billing statement upon request and further failed to communicate its determination to an offer to resolve the final balance. Upon follow-up, billing personnel refused to provide any documentation, orally or in writing, to the request for a detailed billing statement, and any counter offer to resolve the final balance. Documentation of a detailed billing statement must be provided when requested. Further, statements of final costs, standard or negotiated, are required for healthcare related expenditures for tax purposes. The multiple failures to perform by Piedmont Anesthesia Associates deprive patients the ability to reasonably resolve balances and to comply with state and federal requirements for qualified healthcare expenditures. "This Anesthesiology group definitely has poor business practice, which I am pursuing further. I had an outpatient procedure at Piedmont with two forms of insurance coverage, which were authorized prior to the procedure. After multiple attempts to rectify the situation, I was informed by an associate of the group that they would NOT file my insurance(s) because they did not want to "settle" for the contracted amount. This is terrible practice and shame on any hospital or facility that knowingly has an affiliation with the malefactors! They deserve less than a one star!"

"Service received was obviously adequate as I have no recollection of getting my chest cracked open. so I won't slam from the angle of service received. I will tell you I owed them several $1000 which I paid money monthly towards and when a got balance down to the last $400 they turned it over to collections! which I do not understand with covid 19 and knowing someone had open our surgery why they would do this without contacting me. I was totally unaware that it was threatened to be turned over to collections and yet and still I was paying monthly! very disappointed ."

"This used to be a negative review. (See below) But just as a company should get a negative review for bad service, they should be rewarded with positive reviews for good service. After two seperate, major mistakes with their billing department (see description of the first one in my original review below), Julie, Carla, Vanessa, and Patty have all been tremendously helpful and responsive in helping me resolve the issues, and I am now quite satisfied with their customer service. I highly recommend they dump the national billing company they use (because my experience did not go well with them) but if you've found this review, then you've probably also found the direct phone number to the company itself. Thanks again to the aforementioned people for resolving the billing issues in a very timely manner once notified!! Previous post: This company has an inept billing department. Almost 10 months after my wife's procedure, she got a phone call from a bill collector. We had not received a single communication from the company. After speaking with the bill collector for a matter of about 5 minutes, they quickly determined that the issue was a faulty mailing address, because there was a mailing error. It turns out that the company had entered our zip code as our apartment number. This was an easily noticeable error, and should be the first thing to catch the attention of someone in accounts recievable for a delinquent account. It would also have been easily rectified with a phone call sometime in the full 10 months before they turned the account over to collections. Instead, my 6-month pregnant wife gets a harrassing phone call (while at work) from a rude debt collector 10 months later, which is a clear threat to destroy our financial future with a negative credit rating. I know we often don't have many choices in healthcare (especially as it pertains to anesthesiology), but if at all possible, I highly recommend avoiding this provider. Updated: I spoke with a lovely woman named Patty in billing, who admitted the error and reassured me that they were going to do everything in their power to keep this incident off of our credit reports. Assuming that they succeed in so doing, I am still perturbed by the incident, but extremely grateful that she is handling it so gracefully."
