"This club is a great place to learn to fly, or to take a discovery or tour flight! They have a strong list of instructors on staff, a solid quiver of updated planes, and are based out of Chattanooga Airport. These guys take pilot safety and readiness seriously and prepare students thoroughly. There are plenty of instructors and planes to match your scheduling needs. Even with my PPL, I continue to enjoy this club for airplane rental and continued training. Chattanooga airport is excellent for learning tower operations and communication as their crews are calm and easy to work with. Highly recommend!"

There are several instructors with different personalities, so you can choose someone who works toward your goals on your timeline: Committed to learn to fly soon? They have instructors for that. Want guidance in becoming a career pilot? They have instructors who have been through the process. Want to fly for the military? They have instructors who have served. As for me, I needed a calm, patient instructor who was willing to train me in 3 or 4 different planes in both the left and right seats until I felt comfortable. They have that, too. "Current flight student with an honest review: This flight school is focused on safety first, not just getting a student to solo in record time and getting them in the air without the skills to recover from some dangerous circumstance. I was able to start with Hixson Aviation at their former non-towered location and continue at the present Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport location. I was terrified of towered operations, but I must say I quite like the new location now. There are plenty of opportunities to fly to neighboring Cleveland, Dalton, or Lafayette and receive training in the best of both worlds. The instructors come from a variety of aviation backgrounds (military, general aviation, university, etc). I have had lessons with all the instructors at Hixson Aviation and learned something meaningful from each. My work schedule does not permit scheduling with only one specific instructor, and that has not been a problem with instruction continuum. Come here to learn how to fly. If being a student isn’t your thing, schedule a flightsee tour of downtown or the beautiful surrounding area. Point being, get in the air and have fun."
