"Unprofessional staff. Asked for my personal information before confirming that they have no availability."
"I have been with Foundation Psychiatry for about 8 years. Dr. Tumeh is a brilliant, and incredibly compassionate human being. Veronica Hall is so attentive, invests in her clients, wise beyond her years, and has literally held my hand through my darkest times. Her insight is invaluable. Ken Lang is amazing with managing medications, listening, and has been a sound voice of reason while showing me so much respect. The office staff has been nothing outside of stellar. I am honored this practice has accepted me with open arms, zero judgement, and continues to be one of the many reasons I am able to continue moving forward with my life. I am forever grateful to Foundation Psychiatry."
"I have been seeing Dr. Tumeh since 2018 and in the start was able to receive good quality care. After 2020 and things were shifted to on the phone appointments and things have been sub par at best. And when I became pregnant in 2021 I was taken off of my medication by Dr. Tumeh. Another medication was not recommended to me and by 25 weeks I spiraled. I spoke with him and he was still skeptical about putting me on something. Fast forward to the end of pregnancy I went inpatient at a psychiatric hospital. That was horrible and 2 weeks later I had my son. So you can imagine the compounding stress I was experiencing. Well, I wasn’t stable before the birth so I ended up with postpartum depression severely. I went to treatment in Florida with a newborn and finally got adequate care. That is not the way I envisioned my first weeks with my son. The psychiatrists down there began to make some new changes. I connected back with Dr. Tumeh and I don’t believe he truly understood the gravity of that event in my life: Since then, Dr. Tumeh has been helping me remain stable but my last appointment I realized it was time to change providers finally. I am looking to be pregnant again and refuse to go through something that traumatic again. He said that I should come off my medicine even though I told him I do not feel comfortable with that. Dr. Tumeh, I appreciate you help over the years and respect you but I need someone who can be more comprehensive and understanding of the vulnerabilities women face during their reproductive years. I am not looking to be dismissed and put into another traumatic birthing situation. I have now started seeing a reproductive psychiatrist and her ability to see my life holistically has been great. I finally have a care plan in place that will help me in my next pregnancy with the reassurance of my new doctor and her approach to this vulnerable time period. Thank you for your help Dr. Tumeh but I do recommend you shifting to at least virtual appointments to reconnect with clients and ensure you are understanding their full psychological history. I also think that becoming more educated in mental health during pregnancy will serve you well of working with a client like myself in the future. Best of luck to you and the rest of your staff!"
"In over three years of seeing Dr. Tumeh, I can honestly say that Foundation Psychiatry has answered the phone less than five times ever. When you're struggling with your mental health, simply getting out of bed and getting through the day can be a struggle. So, the last thing you want to have to do is play phone tag with your doctor to get the medications you need to be healthy and happy. I would think that, of all places, a Psychiatrists' office would know this and make it the utmost priority to be accessible and helpful to their patients to get them the care they need. While the staff does eventually call you back (typically the following day), it's extremely frustrating having to play phone tag with them. I also tried messaging in the patient portal to schedule an appointment since they do not offer any option to schedule online, and they never replied. Their staff has tried to tell me before that they have difficulties answering the phone because they're experiencing "high call volumes" due to "COVID", which I accepted in 2020. However, it's 2023 now and that's no longer a reasonable excuse to never answer the phone. On top of all of these things, they billed me $175 for an appointment I never had. Needless to say, that's extremely frustrating to deal with when you can't get on the phone with anybody to address the fact that it is a mistake. All this to say... For a doctor who charges an extremely steep out-of-pocket rate for an appointment, I would expect a more professional and dependable caliber of service for patients. I've had to find a new psychiatrist through Piedmont (who is great, responsive, and accessible), and I am sad to say I wouldn't recommend coming to Foundation Psychiatry for your mental health needs."
"I have been seeing Dr. Tumeh and his team for probably around five years. He is the most compassionate doctor I’ve ever had and unfortunately I’ve had many with the numerous hospitalizations. I was very sick and he never gave up. He is always on top of new treatment techniques. I had tried nearly all the medications and nothing worked for me. Luckily Dr. Tumeh introduced me to transcranial magnetic stimulation and I am actually fixed living a normal life! Something I never thought would be possible. I barely take any medication now and am finally losing the weight from the psychiatric medications. I am eternally grateful for Dr. Tumeh and his team!"
