"This was the second PT I had seen for what appeared to be QL tightness. I had a severe pinch on the left side of my lower back for almost 2 years from swinging/spiking in volleyball. It would LIGHT UP after I swung so I simply stopped or seriously limited my swinging when it started to act up, which it always did. It would die down slightly after 1 day per week of playing volleyball, but it was always noticeable and limited my activity level, enjoyment level with sports, and always in my thoughts. My PT, Mark Riggins, said he didn't think it was skeletal and tried dry needling mixed with other exercises and stretching. I had 3 or 4 visits, paying my co-pay of $55 per visit. I ended up asking him, "If it's not skeletal, and it's muscular, why not massage it and loosen it up?" "It's too deep," he said. "Dry needling and stabilizing work will be the best option." "Ok," I said. "You're the pro. I trust you." But nothing worked. I stopped going because I didn't notice any relief at all. Similar situation with another PT shortly after that resulted in no relief as well. After continuing to deal with it, it hit me, why not try heating it up and massaging it? Like I mentioned to all the PTs. So I did. I took a tennis ball, for about 30 cents, for about 5 minutes, once or once every every other day while providing heating as well. After 1 week, guess what? It felt better than it has in 2 years. It's about 2 or 3 weeks after starting MY OWN strategy of heating and massaging for only about $40 total. Much cheaper than the over $700 I've spent on PTs, not including the insurance costs, and I'm able to play volleyball and workout and bend over and do things without the worry of pain like I had in the past 2 years. I played volleyball 3 days in a row, was able to get back into the "swing" of things all 3 days and didn't get NEARLY the same kind of pain the following day as only 1 day of volleyball with extremely limited swinging. It can still tighten up a bit here and there, but I can heat it up and massage through it. This is wonderful. And also very concerning. This was probably the most obvious and easiest path to take, but Mark, and the other two PTs, did not take it, even when I suggested it. This is extremely worrisome that professionals charging a total of $200+ for an hour are not able to figure this out. Could it be they know this could work, but don't take this route so they can get you to come back? I strongly encourage people to learn about their bodies the best they can. It's hard when we trust professionals like this, but they are clearly not as knowledgeable as they think or are in a space to simply get you to come back and continue to charge you. I firmly believe this was a large oversight by all PTs here, and there wasn't any ill-intention. I certainly hope so. Either way, I can't help but feel taken advantage of and have missed out on a lot of life and fun due to such a simple and easily fixable problem. And for that reason, and that experience I had with Mark, I do not recommend a service like One Point Physical Therapy that doesn't rule out the easiest and most obvious solution first and foremost."
"My body is always messed up so I've been to a couple different PT companies. All the therapists I've seen have been solid and I know they cared and were invested in my recovery BUT at some places the therapists are just juggling too many clients. Not the case at OnePoint. Excellent therapists and the scheduling is such that they can give you enough one on one."
"I love OnePoint Physical Therapy. All of the providers are top notch and caring. They’re not a factory like the chain PT places. They take real care with each patient. And the culture is fantastic."
"I went to the Virginia-Highlands clinic for about 15 sessions after rotator repair surgery in January. They were able to get me in for a new patient consult soon after my Dr said I was ready for PT. Scheduling was easy. Insurance claims all handled seamlessly (unlike a previous nightmare experience elsewhere). Jonathan was my PT. Fantastic!! He was thorough, knowledgeable and great at answering all my questions. A very kind and patient guy. I never dreaded the appointments as the environment and Jonathan made the time and hard work a pleasure. All the staff there are wonderful and I enjoyed the banter and chit-chat while going through the drills. Best of all, I really made meaningful progress. Highly recommend OnePoint and PT Jonathan Joseph."
"I’ve been going to One Point for a few weeks after a total shoulder replacement. I have been incredibly anxious and apprehensive about the whole process (surgery and recovery). However on my very first phone call to schedule PT, I have felt confident and comfortable with my surgeon’a recommendation of Kelvin Carter @ One Point. He was able to fit me in for my evaluation in a very timely manner despite his already full schedule. He has also been very calming and encouraging to me during this process. Secondly, Stephanie has been awesome to work with for billing as well. My insurance plan has been a headache from day one but she’s been helpful and available to help get it resolved. You really couldn’t ask for a better practice for your physical therapy needs. Recovery is hard, the people helping you shouldn’t be - and One Point does their best to make recovery easier."
