"PLEASE READ MY TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE: I brought my elderly Mother to see Dr. Kathleen Khan at Piedmont Women's Healthcare for an Ob/Gyn appointment and I just have to write about the TRAUMATIC experience here with their awful and ill-mannered staff! They referred my Mom to have a Mammogram done and then said my Mom needed a follow-up to have an OPTIONAL biopsy. After they explained what the biopsy would entail, my Mother and I decided we would rather have a second opinion with another doctor than subject her frail body to the biopsy. We called the practice to let them know of our decision and they became hostile, citing that my mother needed to have the biopsy before they would proceed with us to discuss anything. I told them that the biopsy was optional so there is no reason why we are now being forced to do one. I asked to speak with Dr. Kathleen Khan (my Mom's OB/Gyn) in order to discuss another alternative but they told me, in the most rude way, that Dr. Khan would not speak with us. My Mom and I now felt even more concerned about why we were now being FORCED into performing an OPTIONAL procedure. Mind you, this biopsy would require a surgical incision where a port is inserted into the chest and would remain in the chest for LIFE! My Mother did not want a foreign object in her body for life and neither did I want that for my elderly Mom. This was not a decision to take lightly. We needed more information and the practice blatantly denied our requests for more information. My Mom is in optimal health, eats well, and exercises daily. Her lab work always come out perfect so we just needed to understand why we were being forced to do this biopsy against our will. Oh, we had a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE HERE! I'm still unsure why they were forcing us to carry out a biopsy but when we went to get a second opinion with another doctor, we were told a biopsy was completely unnecessary! I am hoping my review can save another person out there from this awful awful practice. What a traumatic experience we had!"
"If you can find another Ob/Gyn, please do so and stay away from Dr. Khan and her practice. They are very mean-spirited! They will change/cancel appointments on you last minute with no remorse or apologies. Don't even bother calling them to follow up on your test results because they will keep you on hold for AT LEAST 40 MINUTES (and I'm not exagerrating here)! Staff turnover is very high and so their processes are so incompetent. I tried being patient with them but I have had it. How can a medical facility be so disorganized, rude, condescending and just all round incompetent? I have even seen them throw a patient out of the office facility just because she showed up late. As women, our relationship with an OB/Gyn is a lot more personal than with a primary care physician. We open up more with our OB/Gyn to discuss more private matters with them. I did not feel comfortable, secure or safe at Dr. Khan's practice. The staff is so aloof and so very hostile that I had to leave. I pray they either hire better people or they invest in training their staff. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! STAY AWAY!"
"Dr. Khan operates a practice at Piedmont Women's Healthcare that is absolutely horrible and RACIST! I scheduled an appointment with her practice months prior and then a few days to the appointment they call me and tell me of a change in doctor. I agreed to that. My appointment was at 1:15pm and I showed up at 1:30pm (they usually allow a grace period of 15 minutes past the appointment time so I was within that grace period). The office manager SONYA was extremely rude and told me that my appointment time changed to 1:00pm and so I was 30 minutes late. I would never be so uncourteous to be 30 minutes late to an appointment. I informed her that my appointment was 1:15pm and to please show me where the time was changed to 1:00 pm. She could not show me any documentation of this time change. She was so very rude and condescending and turned me away saying the doctor would not see me today at all. I have been a patient of Dr. Khan for 10 years and she birthed all my three kids. I have never ever bene spoken to this way or asked to leave. This new office manager SONYA is RACIST, rude, condescending and has a significant lack of proper etiquette when it comes to speaking with people. Dr. Khan will lose her patients (especially long standing ones who have been under better office management previously). They need to fire SONYA immediately or send her through intense office management training. Her attitude is completely and inexcusably deplorable!"
"Dr. Khan herself is a wonderful and knowledgeable physician. I am older and come once a year for a checkup and she always answers my questions. I cannot figure out what is wrong with the prescription system. They never call in my prescriptions for the coming year and leaving a message for the office staff gets no results. There is no way to do it on the patient portal nor to make an appointment there as well. Not sure why they have a patient portal. I have just given up after 3 calls and my primary is going to do my gyn coverage now. It would be worth the hassle if I had more needs for specialized care than I do."
"Spectacular! I have been using this office for over three years prior to getting married but saw Courtney, Dr. Khans P.A. My husband and I respect Cortney a lot and learned a lot from her. We were a bit inexperienced and came with a slew of questions. Courtney just explained everything and answered all of the questions we had without rushing us. This actually help my husband process her answers. So it seemed right to see Dr. khan when we got pregnant. Initially I was hesitant and fearful because of all the possible things that could go wrong, and because my husband is an attorney I frequently overheard attorneys discussing horror stories of horrible incidence of doctors not listening to patients and not advocating for them. We did as much research as we could. After meeting Dr.Khan for the first time, we had complete peace. First off, she is brilliant and knows her stuff. Even though she's smart she is down to earth. Something I have learned to appreciate. She is also a lot like Courtney in that she listens. She is not arrogant but she is confident. We had gone to Africa, Thailand, and Colombia for work purposes. We were concerned about Zika and all the possible diseases and gene abnormalities. We had been trying to get pregnant, so we knew the risks and had taken every precaution necessary, however we still had risk factors. She answered every question my husband and I had written out. She is not easily excitable which put us at ease. The lab results were called into us as soon as her office received them. Her nurse Stacey is also very kind and gentle. The ultrasound tech that Dr.Khan uses is like non other. I am a nurse and work with critical care patients, hence I come in contact with multiple ultrasound tecks and radiology techs. The ultrasound tech narrates everything, even though I knew what I was looking at, it dawned on me that my husband did not. She described the anatomy and little hands, pointed out details that thoroughly elated and my husband. She also took a small video clip and let him record it on his phone. He shows everyone that clip and the pictures he took on his phone with the heartbeat and all. This has really helped him stay engaged and actually created some excitement. I had horrible bouts of nausea and vomiting, initially I had issues with my insurance. However, Dr. khans office helped with a lot of the communication. I have never been sick and I have never had to utilize our insurance like we are now. One thing I have learned as a patient is that when you're not feeling well, the last thing you want to do is fight on the phone with the insurance company. Stacey handled a lot of the communication. Because of my age, we were referred to a specialist for an exam. I am so glad that we do not have to remain in the specialist care. As the experience was nothing like we have had at this office. We are so grateful that we did our research and Went with Dr.Khan."
