"I think long and hard before I leave reviews, especially if the review is going to be negative. My experience with Oakhurst, now Medcura started in 5/2020. I have a professional job and I am fully insured. I sought them out for their experience with black women’s health issues. At the end of the day, experience matters and from my research, they have it when it comes to caring for black people. After two years of giving them grace when they would send in my prescriptions and vitamins late, show up hours late to telehealth appointments, encourage rude and dismissive staff, I am walking away and I hope others follow. My Doctor was Janella Thomas-Burse. She is knowledgeable but she shows no accountability when it comes to the patient experience. She has shown up hours late to telehealth appointments and came on the virtual session and totally ignored her actions. She has failed to hold her staff accountable (Dasha Riggins and others) for poor customer service, not sending appointments links or retrieving important patient information. Dr. Janella Thomas-Burse has even failed to send prescriptions off for weeks at a time. The last straw came when Dr. Janella Thomas-Burse diagnosed me with PCOS but never warned me about the symptoms, including hair loss, weight gain, depression and anxiety. When I started experiencing these things, I had no idea where it was coming from. I thought I would be better off not living. I thought it was something I did or wasn’t doing. She never told me I had a hormone imbalance and that there was medicine to help me. I work out, drink water, take vitamins, and etc. I’ve been suffering and all along, there was something that could’ve been done. Our Drs. have a duty to tell us these things! Today will be my last time dealing with Medcura, Dr. Janella Thomas-Burse or her staff. I do my best to uplift black doctors and protect their image but she and her entire team failed me. I hope they do better by the communities they serve."

"I just had an UNBELIEVABLY GOOD experience with Dr. Thomas-Burse and her partner Dr. Lovely. WOW! I am a young woman who just moved to Atlanta for college. I went to this practice on referral from an older woman who said they were good. She couldn't have been more right about these people. I went in to be seen for gynecological I was having. They scheduled an appointment for me right away, the staff was knowledgable, efficient, and courteous. It was a nice place that was well kept, neat and clean. I went twice and both of the these doctors were incredibly nice and patient with me. I'm a young woman and a lot of this gyn stuff is new to me. But they took the time to explain EVERYTHING so that I could understand. They listened to me, they understood my concerns, and they educated me on how to fix my problem. Yesterday I had an emergency arise after hours, I was planning to go to the ER but I also called and left a message to keep them in the loop. I was amazed when this office responded and made arrangements of me to be seen after hours based upon my emergency situation. WOOOOOWWWW !!!!!!!! Who does that? I just can't say enough about these talented docs. They are the best kept secrets in Atlanta and they are my docs for life! Can't thank them enough!"
