"Went here in 6th grade when my mom and I moved into section 8. I have a lot of crazy memories from just the year I went here.I was the only Asian kid at the time and I was tiny and rocked cool kicks so everybody was pretty cool with me, but I remember there being two other white kids total and besides that it was a predominately black population.fights every other day In the cafeteria, hallways, classrooms you name it. Remember this math teacher and a student doing push-ups and he switches to two fingers lol. People spitting raps and making beats and vibing. There would be times people would be having cook offs(roasting each other ) hella funny. Beautiful ladies everywhere .great pep rally’s and we were lit (dem franchise boyz and Soulja boy , shake that laffy taffy ) era.Definitely a rowdy place but the experience of the people and atmosphere was just one of a kind.there were Some really cool friends I met throughout and people that I wish I still talked to today.everyone was from nothing or didn’t come from much going here, so you could understand why the environment was hostile at times. Security was nonexistent on middles school side because they had to focus on high schoolers too ,having the building divided. It’s crazy to think I felt more comfortable and held together here at times compared to when I moved to Georgia and attended school there. Memories for sure man."
"I'm very honored to have attended this school, I felt like the students were my siblings..Being able to sing in a performing choir, run track, although I wasn't great at it..I was also able to be in performing arts where we went to different then called junior high schools to show our creative dancing skills....It really made me feel as if I was apart of something greater than myself.."
"Undisciplined thugs! Administration offers no disciplinary action against those students who threaten teachers and other students. Teachers are disciplined if they write up these kids and are told they don't "understand" these low income and minority students. School returned weapon carrying student right back to campus. Daily fights!"
"No discipline here and lousy campus security. I hear that there is going to be an administration change in the new year. Hopefully this will take Howard back to the discipline and enthusiasm we had 3 years ago."
"Anti-bullying needs to be a priority at this school. There s a lot of judgement, and racism that goes on that tends to be ignored by staff. Some kids have to decide whether to "fit in" or focus on their education. Besides that, it is a decent school."
