Reviews
"Grady Behavioral Health Outpatient center and the nurses, doctors, social workers, clinicians, receptionists, and security guards I have encountered have all been wonderful and pleasant. I have had good experiences as a patient at the outpatient center."
"Grady Health System should be “appalled” how this system is operated! John M. Haupert, Grady Health System CEO, be the change for psychiatric care that Fulton and Dekalb counties need! The wait time exceeds three hours; the staff is very unprofessional at check-in. Staff have personal conversations, while sipping hot tea. Change is needed NOW!"
"Couldn't recommend this place less. If I could give no stars I would. Upon immediately entering this facility I was turned off. Security guards on personal calls talking loudly on their phones offered irritated and short instruction on how to get to the mental health unit. The whole place was very dirty and looked neglected. The waiting room was unclean, and there was a staff member sitting in one of the few seats available taking a personal call and talking loudly. The waiting area is not large and it felt intrusive. Very little care is put into helping people in compromised mental states through the difficulties of receiving care. The worst part, worse than waiting for hours to speak to a "counselor" was being yelled at, no exaggeration here, by staff telling my mom (who had come to help me navigate this difficult process) she had to leave and was not able to sit with me. It started as a confrontation, asking intensely if "there was a problem" when my mom explained that her presence was needed to help me with paperwork, my memory, etc. The whole process was grating, unpleasant, and left me in a worse state than when I went in. I would absolutely NEVER advise anyone to use Grady mental health services unless it's a real emergency, but even then I have genuinely very little confidence that they would be able to properly and respectfully handle it. If you are able to afford it, do go somewhere else. Visiting the mental health unit was one of the worst experiences I've had in a long time."
"Considering the large volume that this center deals with, I think the personnel at Grady mental health services does a great job. I was there today for the first time, and it did take a long time, but I was treated kindly and competently. If you go there just wanting a short assessment and a quick prescription, you will no doubt be disappointed. Expect a more thorough approach with long-term mental health in mind."
