"The drinks were amazing! A strawberry mimosa and orange crush. The fried deviled eggs were my favorite. My burger was not cooked to satisfaction,it was still red and mushy when i took a bite out of it and when brought to the attention of the server she only replied oh sorry and walked away. My partners food was delicious though. Cornbread was sweet and light."
"Perfect spot for 2 or 20. The food and vibe were great! Definitely returning because I saw a few more items on the menu I’m eager to try. I didn’t know they had a lunch buffet. Going back for that, too!"
"Decided to have breakfast here and I am totally happy with my decision. I ordered the salmon croquettes w/ eggs, cheese grits and wheat toast. My husband had the sampler bkfst called "my endless love" which consisted of shrimp & grits, eggs, sausage patties, 2 pancakes and hash browns. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, hot and flavorful! Our server was great and the atmosphere of the restaurant is great! We would definitely come back to patronize this restaurant."
"I normally do not provide food reviews but in this case, I feel that I need to. My experience at Jo Ellen’s on 8/27/23 was beyond more than unexceptional, unacceptable, and underwhelming! To start, my party and I were seated at around 3 p.m. and would not receive all of our orders until after 5:30. Our orders were coming out of the kitchen one meal at a time, 30 mins apart. Service was extremely slow, with over a 30 min wait to even receive our drink orders. When the food was served, it was cold or under cooked! The collard greens, black-eyed peas and tacos were overly salted; the meatloaf was dry and over cooked (plastic knife broke trying to cut through it); and the worst transgression was that the chicken wings were not fully cooked with blood seeping out when pierced with a fork. To add insult to injury, some of our party had diarrhea after consuming this horrible meal. If I could, I would rate them a "ZERO". The manager apologized but it came across as insincere and disingenuous. She only provided us a small discount on the orders that were horrible, which amounted to nothing considering they charged us a 20% gratuity! Hence why the apology was insincere and disingenuous! I always try to support black owned businesses, but I will not return to this establishment and do not recommend it to others. In the end, all I can say is, Jo Ellen’s do better, be better and work to provide a stellar dining and eating experience for your customers!"
"Had the pleasure of dining in at JoEllen's tonight and it easy such a pleasure. Me and my friends truly enjoyed it. From the time we walked in we were greeted by great customer service! Our server Nyla was excellent! She was patient as we asked multiple questions about different dishes, and she was very informative. I ended up getting the Fried Devil Eggs as an appetizer which was delicious. For my entree I got meatloaf, collard greens with smoked turkey, corn bread, candied yams, and Mac and cheese. Absolutely divine. You will have a wait with waiting on Food to be cooked fresh but it's worth it. Meat loaf was juicy, and flavorful... Mac and cheese was cheesy and decadent and seasoned to perfection, greens were alright, wasn't anything to jump over the moon about, candied yams were absolutely awesome..sweet, flavorful with cinnamon..just everything... we had the pleasure of speaking to the owner who was such a humble soul. I hope and pray this restaurant continues to soar and will definitely be returning soon."
