Brother Charlie Rescue Center
About the Business
Brother Charlie Rescue Center, located at 326 Beech Street in Tifton, Georgia, is a store that offers essential services to the homeless population in the area. Our sixty-bed emergency shelter is open 24/7 and provides up to six months of shelter, supportive services, and transitional housing to homeless men with the goal of ending chronic homelessness.
In addition to our shelter services, we also offer community services through our Day Center Program, which provides clothing, food, meals, referrals, and more to individuals and families in need for the purpose of homeless prevention. Our thrift stores located in "persistent poverty" counties offer affordable clothing, furniture, appliances, and more to locals, allowing households to stretch their income further towards housing, revenue, and food.
Brother Charlie's Rescue Center, Inc. was established in 1979 in honor of the late Charles "Charlie" Sheehan, a WWII Veteran who became known for his outreach to the poor and homeless in the area. Our Christian non-profit organization has been working for over forty years to prevent and end homelessness by providing help to those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Through our five programs - homeless shelter, transitional housing, supportive services, day center, and thrift stores - we aim to bring about positive change and results in the lives of those we serve. Join us in our mission to end homelessness and bring hope to those in need.

"I called to get someone to pull weeds from around some shrubbery and flower beds and the guy asked me “why aren’t you pulling the weeds”. I proceeded to tell him I’ve had knee surgery and I bled out 4 pints of blood in my upper thigh and I could not. Not the right thing to be asking someone."
"Because when I came here 22 years ago they give me a good foundation and I went on from there went to work got my own place and now I got my own little detail business and they are still there for me when I need them I also work my way up to weekend manager very good place and it's spiritual"
"They told us we could hire a few of the people to work and on the day we went to get them they told us they would not allow them to work !!! One would think they would encourage them to work - but again a case where they complaining about no money but REFUSE good jobs Actions speak louder then words We should quit giving free lunches and afford jobs to the people - We all work why are we giving money to people whom REFUSE work!!!!"
"The staff that works there are genuinely trying hard to help the residents that reside there...The staff that's in charge of the dorm area are professional, kind and they are Military Veterans. So they have previous problem solving skills."
"Not only is this a corrupt horrible enterprise who is taking full advantage of the less fortunate but it is 100% does not help veterans as I am one & it's a none Christian ran organization even though they are using non profit tax shelters & presumed Christian titles & leadership as far as the community is concerned. The pastor who oversees the homeless shelter is a horrible human being who has absolutely no involvement in helping any of the residence develop a greater & stronger relationship with Christ even though he earns a whopping $1200.00 a week. If you're looking for somewhere to go, this place is highly not recommended and should be investigated which will eventually happen because they're only mission is "money." If Jesus is who you love, you will be 100% disappointed with your experience here."
