"I absolutely recommend this place to anyone with any exotic animals! This clinic/hospital is one of the best places I have ever been to. The customer service is amazing, helpful, and every positive word you can think of. Our chinchilla, Onyx, was having rectal prolapse and we had no idea what to do or who to call, but every other clinic that we called recommend All Creatures. Mind you, this vet is an hour away from where we are. We called as soon as they opened, and they got us an appointment immediately for the same day. When we arrived, they took immediate and intensive care for our baby. They treated him like he was one of their own! They called us a number of times to keep us updated on him and his condition during his recovery. We were unable to pick him up the same night, so she gave us the option to keep him overnight, which was so helpful. The prices are great, too! If i could give more than 5 stars, i totally would! Thank you to the staff so much!!"
"Called up here because no veterinarians near me took chinchillas. I asked if they took emergency issues and they said yes but told me to make an appointment because it’s cheaper that way. They got me an appointment right away and I was able to bring my chinchilla in. They immediately took us back and checked on him, after the paperwork and initial test they immediately took him back for surgery as he had a life threatening condition. They told us how much it would cost along the way which made the experience so much better. After we left they continuously called to let us know his condition and how he was doing after the surgery. We even called up a couple times to check on him and they happily updated us. The next morning when we picked him up the vet gave us a run down of how to properly care for him during his recover. We’re so thankful for everything they did and how well they treated us and our chinny."
"I have been taking my Pooky, hamster, here for a year. He has had multiple respiratory infections and so i agreed to get a culture to see if there was a better medicine for him. According to the culture - which was 100 dollars - he needed 2 special meds to given back to back to clear up some bacteria growing. I agreed to the treatment - 45 dollars a bottle for a week - and picked up my first treatment and finished. I called to check on the 2nd med and they said they would put it together and i could pick it up saturday. On saturday I have to get up early - i work late at the hospital - to get there in time and its a 40 min drive. I paid for my med and watched the tech wait on everyone else in front of me - people came and left - while i waited for her to go make the med i needed because it wasnt made like i was told. Finally an hour later i was told they made up my med but it was the same med he had the week before. I explained this so the tech went to check on the med. I was told the med had to be ordered and they didnt have it but the vet said i should have him take this medicine again while i wait on the other..another 45 dollars. I said no because it wasnt the original plan. ( It seems like the med should have been ordered when the other med was picked up to have it ready because you knew he would need it a week later.) They then asked if i wanted to get a credit for the next medicine when it came in and i said no id like my money back if there wasnt medicine to get that day. They were having problems with a refund - said they didnt know how so i said id take cash..Dr West said they dont do that and continued to try a refund. She finally gave up and gave my 45 dollars cash out of the drawer. Pooky was already better after the first med so i called the next monday and said not to order the other med i think hes fine now. Dr. West told me at the beginning of november i should wait for about 2 months to get Pookys teeth trimmed again. With it going on 2 months I called to get the appt and was told my account had been closed and i needed to go to another vet. There are no other exotic vets in the area except auburn and you cant get a last minute appt there. So i had to find an exotic vet - which is an hour and half away to get my hamsters teeth trimmed all because you didnt order the med he was supposed to have the day i needed it for him. I didnt yell - i wasnt rude i just didnt want to buy something i wasnt picking up. 45 dollars is a lot of money month after month. It adds up. I am probably better off anyway because when i called Auburn they said you are not on the recommended vet list. I now know why. You seem to care more about money than you do the animals."
"I went in to see about my hedgehogs eye on Saturday. The tech was nice, I did the paperwork, typical vet visit. All was going well, but when I met Dr. West. She did not even look at my hedgehogs eye. She IMMEDITLY said they were going to sedate her to look at her eye and for a potential mouth ulcer, but my baby has been eating and breathing fine. My hedgehogs eye has not been bothering her, it just looked slightly different than normal and I wanted a second opinion. I was not thrilled with Dr. West wanting to sedate my hedgehog immediately, but I asked for a cost estimate. When the tech came back with a cost estimate for everything, he said that she would need a cream/ointment. If they knew if my hedgehog was going to need the ointment AFTER the sedation and eye stain, why should I pay for that? When asking the tech the name of the ointment, Dr. West interrupted him and said "I am sorry, we can not provide you any medical advice." I left. My hedgehog also left a mess on their counter, when I asked for something to clean it with, nothing was brought to me so I had to leave it there. I looked back at older reviews for this place and another woman had a similar experience too. I am also a college student and this other review reflects my experience. Below is a quote of the other client's review. I hate that we had similar experiences, but I am glad I am not the only one to have had this experience. "I left very frustrated because I felt chastised for choosing not to sedate my hedgehog. A) I'm a student and don't want to double my vet bill. (I will say it was nice of them to give quotes as they went instead of being surprised at the end of the visit). B) She has never been sedated before and has never needed to be sedated, even for ear swabs. C) At this point in a diagnosis, it seems unnecessary to check in her mouth for a tumor when an ear infection has not been ruled out and no meds have been tested to fix the issue after an ear infection was determined WITHOUT needing sedation. The fact that it was pushed on me so much after I had already said no made me really uncomfortable. There was also no explanation about what the sedation process is and what the after effects are, even as I expressed that it made me nervous to think about sedating her. As an owner, I want to be informed of absolutely everything that is going on. Further, I felt extremely stressed when my pet was taken out of the room for an exam after having been judged for not wanting sedation.""
"Staff was pretty friendly but I would recommend getting a second opinion before getting work done here. I went in to get my cat spayed and they said she had a life threatening disease without any testing that costed thousands to cure. However, she was at a different vet days prior to be checked for the disease and they said she didn’t have it, they did an ultrasound. So I took my cat to the vet she was at couple of days ago and they did blood work to make sure, and she didn’t have the disease. They were able to do a spay with no problems. I do believe the staff cares about animals and just wanted to help my baby, but a second opinion never hurts."
