Sawnee Campground,

3200 Buford Dam Road, Cumming, GA 30041

"We only camped one night but had a great time. The check in hosts (Trish and Will, I believe?) we extremely kind and helpful. The waterside sites are gorgeous but I would avoid the sites that back up to Buford Dam Road due to noise and lack of scenery. We were in site 7, which is quite small for a trailer. Ours is 16 feet and I would not try with something larger. Ideal for tents though. The bathrooms were clean but very minimal. No trash cans in the bathrooms, so please pack your garbage out. There are bins outside the bathroom. I did notice the dumpster was overflowing and needed to be picked up. The campground was very quiet at night, but be aware, there are houses across the lake from some of the sites. It could get noisy especially around summer holidays. We live locally and are familiar with Lake Lanier. There is lots of do here for recreation and there are stores and restaurants nearby. We will be back to Sawnee for another staycation in the future! "Woman working at the reservation desk, Trish, was incredibly rude. She was aggressive at explaining her rules for the campground. She literally said it was her rules and what she told me could not be found in the rules and regulations on the website. The walk in campsites are right next to a very busy road and difficult to sleep or get any peace. The lay out of the campsite is awkward and the RV sites are right on top of each other. Definitely the opposite of what camping should be."

"Beautiful views. Very clean camp grounds. Follow the rules or the staff will be very grumpy and be very rude. Our group rented 4 camp sites. Don't even think about spending time together if there's more than 8 of you. Also, quiet time is 10 not 10:30. Don't dare be to loud after 10. Our group was laughing and taking too loud. The staff was very rude telling us to follow the rules and go somewhere else with less rules if we can't abide. We will likely never return."

"Clean bathrooms and nice lake view with a small beach. Very strict rules. People who manage the grounds are contracted out. Overall, this campground is for a (quiet) family or non-resident travelers. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone that likes to sit outside and enjoy the night with friends. There’s a “quiet time” posted for 10pm, and the gates close at 10:30pm. The best comparison I can give about this campground ->>> Lets say you are driving cross country and you have been driving all day. You need a place to stay to just sleep. You look for a suitable hotel off the interstate, check in, sleep and check out. "

"The hours of the gates really interferes with our ability to enjoy this campground. The camp sites and scenery are majestic but we had to camp elsewhere the first night of our reservation because we weren’t going to make it in time. Tried calling but phones didn’t work. Then had to leave a night early because we needed to leave at 3am and the gates would be closed. Paid for three nights and stayed one because of the gates. The showers were very nice. As others mentioned it is quite a hilly walk but I enjoyed it. I really would come back but just don’t make the mistake we did and assume you would be able to get in and out."
