Euharlee Creek Covered Bridge
About the Business
Located at 118 Covered Bridge Road in Euharlee, Georgia, the Euharlee Creek Covered Bridge is a historic tourist attraction that stands as a testament to the resilience and community spirit of the town. This beautiful covered bridge, built in 1886 by Washington W. King and Jonathan Burke, spans over the picturesque Euharlee Creek, a tributary of the Etowah River.
Euharlee, meaning "She laughs as she runs" in honor of the original Native American inhabitants, has a rich history dating back thousands of years. Settled by pioneers in the 1830s for its fertile soil and abundant water supply, Euharlee flourished with the establishment of mills, cotton gins, and community institutions. Despite facing challenges, including a decline in population post-Civil War, Euharlee has persevered and experienced a revival in the late 20th century.
Today, Euharlee remains a beacon of agricultural heritage and community spirit, with organizations like the Euharlee Farmers Club, founded in 1883, still thriving. The town's history is one of resilience, growth, and enduring community bonds, far removed from the specters of curses and ghostly tales that haunt other towns' narratives. Visit the Euharlee Creek Covered Bridge to immerse yourself in the rich history and natural beauty of this charming town.

"Neat bridge with a few old buildings. You can walk across the bridge but cannot go in the buildings. There are plaques with historical info about the place. This is an especially nice little side trip if you are visiting the Etowah Indian Mounds Park. Also, be sure to stop into Nanny G's bakery by the bridge. We tried banana pudding cheesecake, peach hand pie, oatmeal cookie, and "the world's best" cookie. All were extraordinary!"
"It is certainly worth a visit to see the historic Euharlee covered bridge. Euharlee is continually striving to preserve this historic area & have several informative signs containing the history of this area. Easy to find & parking is adjacent to the bridge. Soon, (as of this posting- Dec. 2023,) Drowned Valley Brewery will be right next to the bridge, so bring your thirst for some great local brewed beers."
"We are new to Georgia and chose to attend the Euharlee covered bridge fall festival over other festivals that same day. What an absolutely cute and neat town surrounding the covered bridge. Our family had a blast checking out the bridge. You can walk through the covered bridge. Explore the area around the bridge. We will definitely be back and can't wait take family with us when they come to visit. This is a must do and if you are around the area in October check out to see when the Fall Festival is. They had trick or treating with the vendors, so many vendors, free activities for the kiddos (games, hay rides, painting pumpkins, etc). Life entertainment and demonstrations. I believe this is a must do event and I hope to make it an annual festival for our family. We highly recommend checking out Euharlee Covered Bridge and the town...then in mid October be on the watch for their fall festival. I found info about it on Facebook"
"A reasonable example of a covered bridge. Plenty of parking and a little museum to accompany it. Maybe spend 30 minutes to an hour if you want to read all the signs and do everything at the sight but not much else to do besides the bridge and museum. Plenty of space for children to runaround and a few picnic tables. You do pass several monuments on the way, the drive is very nice, and you can swing by the 2nd largest coal powerplant in the US if you want to go down the road a little further."
