Reviews
"Update: this review has been up for 3 months and NO ONE from CSG has contacted me to discuss this review. I find that very telling. For the past 4 years, I would have given them 5 stars. My son (with autism) loved this camp. They made him feel included and like was just a regular kid (which is super important to him). I was asked several times previously by the inclusion director to give our personal testimony on what this camp meant to us. It was an amazing place. Then this year happened. He attended another camp in April. He had a bad experience at that camp. His behavior was not what it typically was, and it concerned me. So I reached out to CSG to see what our options would be money-wise if we chose not to send him. I also reached out to their inclusion coordinator but heard nothing back. What I did get was an email back from their assistant director telling me that my son was no longer welcome. I tried to explain what happened and give them more information because I had gotten more information, and they refused to consider their decision. Gave me a lot of emails/texts of “we are so sorry, but…” We were not involved at all in this decision. I also think the decision should have waited a few weeks to see what happens with his behavior. It’s been several weeks and my special needs son is still upset and crying because he can’t go to his favorite place. This would have been his last year. The previous director and I had discussed my son being able to attend at 18 in a type of voc-rehab situation (but this new director wouldn’t even discuss it with me prior to this incident) and now my son can’t even go for his last year. Yes, we got our money back. But for a camp that prides itself on being inclusive and open to neuro-diverse children, they sure dumped my son super fast. He keeps begging me to let him go and to let him go next year instead and all I can say is that they don’t want him there. It’s a super heartbreaking end to what I considered to be one of the best things in his life. If you are a parent of an autistic child that has ANY sort of behavioral struggles, I would certainly hesitate enrolling them in this camp."
"I have not been here, but I did hear about the story on the today show if this does not give you goosebumps, what an amazing story. I am so grateful to have stumbled across the story to know that people like you, Zack Brown, or helping people that sometimes cannot help themselves to make them feel good about what they’re doing in this world and teaching them independence."
"My son had a blast and already talking about going back next year when he got home! They were so amazing from the drop off process, to being able to send daily messages (I was told he sent messages back but I never got them) to getting pictures daily! Thank you so much for such a wonderful opportunity and we hope to see you again next year!"
"My daughter really enjoyed herself at this camp. She even cried when it was time to go because she had so much fun and she met so many people. She conquered fears and she was even taught how to ride a bike here. Highly recommended camp."
"I have 7 boys ages 11 to 3. Four of my boys attended camp Southern Ground this past week! Y’all, I’m so incredibly impressed with this camp. EVERYTHING was done in excellence. From the application process, drop off, the “Waldo app” (with face recognition for pics) to the pick up process. This is not just a camp for special needs, although I would feel comfortable sending my son that is. I couldn’t have hand picked better counselors for each of my kids. My children raved about their week and I have heard stories all day. One even learned to ride a bike without training wheels. I’m so thankful my kids had the opportunity to experience this camp. I highly recommend it! I’m the Mom that doesn’t let my kids spend the night off often and I felt comfortable from day one. We watched YouTube videos that told about the camp before attending and it was even more incredible than we imagined. #LoganLand #BoyMom #7Boys"
