"DON’T DO IT!!!!! Yesterday, I took my car here to have it evaluated bc the battery died, but Advanced Auto tested it and said it was fine. I dropped it off at 830 am, but never heard anything over the course of the day. I called 3 times and left 2 voicemails, but never heard back. I went to check on it at 5, and the shop was closed. I went back first thing in the am (bc they kept my car overnight without ever telling me they needed to), and the guy said they fixed my car, and it was the battery. THEY CHARGED ME $330 TO REPLACE MY BATTERY WITHOUT EVER CALLING ME TO TELL ME OR GET APPROVAL! My car was actually already fixed yesterday, but the guy said it was the end of the day and was just so hot, they closed without calling me. They never even called this morning, so who knows when I would have gotten my car, had I not just shown up. They did fix my car, and he did finally admit they handled the situation poorly, but not without over charging me for something I could have totally done myself, had I been properly advised. That’s what I get for trying a new shop that appeared to have great google reviews. Lesson learned….."
"Ive been going to Kens for over 25years and my parents have been going longer. Ken always greats you with a smile and always has been an honest and fair man. You can always trust his word. Never pressures you into a decision like most mechanics do. Love this place and Junior and Billy"
"It is important how friendly or respectful people having a business may appear, but if they failed to do the job properly, or overcharge… Then they are neither friendly nor respectful. Ken's Auto told me that their charge was $60 an hour, and that if it was going to go over that that they would call me. Being on a very limited income I had ordered my part online (a mass air flow sensor) and brought it to them to install... along with the included instructions. This part sits on top of the engine on the far right corner - about the easiest access one can have. It was a five minute job! My family felt that in order to make certain the warranty would be good I needed a professional to install it. Ha! It required disconnecting the battery, removing 2 screws, popping the sensor loose, removing one part and sliding another in, putting the 2 bolts back in, fastening the connector and reconnecting the battery cable. The part came with very clear instructions. A five minute job! When I was called to be informed that my car was ready, I was also informed that the total was a few cents below $80. Upon hearing this amount, I questioned why I hadn't been called as agreed if work needed meant that the bill was going over $60, and was informed, with a chuckle, that "They were calling me now." I then asked what other work they had done on my car, and was told that they simply took the mass airflow sensor off, put the other one on, and then ran their scanner/diagnostic tool to get rid of the check engine light. I decided to continue the discussion at the office in person. My car was driven to pick me up, and then driven back to the garage where I would be paying the bill. As I drove the car back, I noticed that the settings for the clock, radio, etc. were the same as they were when I dropped off the car... meaning that the battery had not been disconnected. When I asked, I was told that they hadn't disconnected the battery because it wasn't necessary...even though the instructions had that as the (#1) first step... as I pointed out. Upon arrival at the office I questioned what I thought was over billing...why I had not been informed if it was going to be more than $60. This is when it was denied that it had ever been mentioned that they were going to call me if the bill was going to be over $60. If I wanted my car, I simply had to pay. I definitely had learned that I would NEVER take my car there again! But...alas... my car was not running any better, and the check engine light came back on. I took it to Advanced Auto where they (free service) ran their scanner, and it was determined that the mass airflow sensor was not functioning correctly. After learning that it was a brand new sensor, the first thing the Advanced Auto gentleman asked me was if the mechanic had disconnected the battery before installation. I said no. He said that that was probably the problem, because the computer would not recognize that this was a new sensor unless the battery had first been disconnected. You know, like the instructions said to do. Furthermore, because it had not been disconnected, they could have blown the sensor. So, I took it back to Ken's Auto. There I was informed that the Advanced Auto person wasn't a mechanic and knew nothing of what he was speaking. I proceeded to get out the instructions and read to him the part directing that the battery be disconnected. He said that he disagreed with the instructions, and that he didn't have time to mess with my car right now. I said "you don't have time to disconnect the battery, let the car sit on the lot for an hour and reconnect the battery?" He did not. I said that I needed to use my car, and would prefer that the battery work be done there on his lot as there was a chance that because they hadn't disconnected the battery that they had blown the sensor. Again, he said he didn't have time, and to bring the car back sometime next week. BAD, BAD EXPERIENCE !!!"
"Great place to go, Honest down to earth people. I use to go to Fire Stone to get my car worked on, i got tired of Fire Stone of screwing me over. I found out about Kens auto and i wont take my care any where else. Fire stone wanted to charge me 600 plus labor to change brakes and rotors. Just go there, they wont do any work until they can quote you first."
"I love ken's auto. It's a great down to earth environment, kens a sweet heart. The mechanics are great at their job. Not one complaint from me about kens. Every time I need something for my car I go to kens cause I wouldn't want it done anywhere else. ❤"
