"If you love mold this is the place for you. From day one we were greeted with a large window leak and that large mass of mold.(don't worry they fixed the leak and painted over the mold so you can still see the water damage. It's a nice reminder of the poor life decision you made of moving into the place) We also had the treat from day one of having our neighbors dryer venting into our apartment. What human with asthma doesn't love the combo of mold and then dust and heat from someone's dryer being blown into their place. ( though sometimes the neighbor used a dryer sheet, so our place smelled nice) though maintenance (maintenance staff is actually amazing and friendly here no negatives on them) did take care of the massive lint clog in the pipes. it was maybe a month in when i finally was able to record a video of a piece of paper blowing due to neighbor's running the dryer. So oaks finally hired an outside team to fix the issue after seeing the video ( guess my multiple complains about the dryer venting into our place wasn't enough) add in 2 more roofing leaks in just our apartment and another in the garage(tons more fun). Don't worry I saved the best for last if that wasn't enough to sell you on the mold Our entire AC/heat venting system is covered in mold. So this entire time I couldn't figure out why I was having such breathing issues, it was that lovely mold just pouring in every time the AC kicked on. Sure this all could be a N=1 situation but, i've heard from others that have had similar issues and many roof leaks. Update: was able to speak to the manager of the place. Now you would think the good and smart play as a manager would to be apologetic. maybe stuff along the lines of " I'm sorry for all the issues that you've had from day one, and yes, some of these things were not fully in my or my staff control, but we could have prevented some of these things and acted more appropriately to your situation. I'm sorry that your pregnant wife and you have had health complications and hospital visits, and Drs visits due to the mold issues during your stay here. is there anything we can do to make this situation better?." Nope the manager went for the aggressive approach. Went combative when asked to be put up in a hotel and for a refund. Would not look up simple dates of when certain issues were completed for my records. Then at the end, the manager went with decided saying "you're only doing this due to being mad about the rate increase in rent of the short term lease" ....or could it be that I simply wanted to move into a mold and multiple leaks and no dryer exhaust pumping into my apartment from day one free apartment. I very much would have enjoyed not having breathing issues and multiple Dr and hospital visits due issues stemming from the apartment. over 90% of these issues could have been resolved right away and correctly with a proper manager running this place. *Proper walk throughs with the staff before renting the place out (missing leaks, mold growth the size of my fist, checking the water heater and furnace, checking if smoke detectors are actually plugged in) * Checking right back in with the resident after hiring an outside company to perform work on the apt. "hey, did they fix the issue" " are you happy with the results." going back to the office multiple times to report it wasn't fixed obviously isn't enough. *Trusting the damn resident when they keep coming into the office and telling you about issues. Yes, fill out online form but after that the resident shouldn't have to keep filling out more and more requests and when they keep coming to the office to explain the job wasn't finished and still issues. IDK maybe actually look into it. positives of the place maintenance staff -nice and friendly and helpful"
