"I had a few friends recommend that I go to CarMax when I was ready to but my car. I ended up at the dealership and had forgotten to set an appointment up. The kind lady who checked me in let me know I could go and browse the vehicles until an associate was available. I had the pleasure of working with John Fiske. When I tell you I was super nervous about purchasing a car, I really was. John made the entire process a breeze. I didn't feel like he was trying to persuade my decision on what I wanted to by. He was very helpful and informative throughout the entire process. He was able to find me the best deal on a fantastic car. I highly recommend going to see John at CarMax for all your car purchasing needs! 10/10 cannot recommend enough. Thank you John and Carmax, your customer service and knowledge were above and beyond my expectations."
"Good experience. No hassle or pressure. We had a car shipped (free) from another CarMax location. It was as advertised, we bought it, and after a month and over 1000 miles, we’re still very happy!"
"I recently purchased a 2013 Ford Fiesta from them knowing they do really good inspections on their vehicles before they sell them and I have never had an issue with any CarMax like the ones I am having now I have to drive my car over the country so I knew I would be excluded from their 30 day or 1500 mile warranty really quickly so I was a little trusting in the fact they wouldn’t sell me an unsafe vehicle That being said; they still proceeded to sell me a vehicle with a transmission that doesn’t properly work; where I’m straining my engine and transmission just trying to accelerate to 30 MPH making it so I’m going to have to spend the cost of the vehicle in repairs just to keep in a safe operating condition When calling CarMax to see if there is anything that can be done all I’m told is “Oh well; you’re out of policy; just bring it back to us and we will see what can be done to repair the car” despite me explaining that without my car I cannot work; and explaining that I live out of state so I would have to drive 6 hours to even get my car into their service center I would expect a company as big as CarMax to want to keep their customers happy; especially when everyone speaks about them in a good regard but then selling cars that are barely road worthy and refusing to do anything but tell you “bring it to our shop for 6 weeks and we’ll see what we can do” without giving you an alternative car and leaving you on the hook for the car payments that you can’t pay without being able to use your car for work I have spoken to several different people and only one of them has been any type of helpful while everyone is saying “oh well; you’re stuck with it” without any regards to the fact they sold a car that was barely road worthy and is closer go a death trap than a car Do better CarMax"
"My review might be the most helpful for first-time car buyers. You know all of the horror stories we'd hear about the car buying experience? Well, the CarMax in Augusta wasn't like that. They made it all remarkably simple and not scary at all! I had never been through the car buying process. I'd only ever driven hand-me-down vehicles, one rental, and one old "get you from A to B" type of situation that my dad bought from a guy. I'd never been anywhere to look at vehicles, test drive vehicles, nothing. I was a nervous wreck before I started this process with Carmax, but they calmed all of my worries! Initially I started online, choosing the vehicle that I wanted, pre-qualifying for finance options, and having it delivered to the Augusta store. I figured I was really going to like it so I started the buying process online. I didn't finish buying it online, because I'm not that stupid. I knew I needed to test drive it first. Between shipping and it being ready I had had a couple of questions because anxiety is a thing. I spoke to an online chat rep who was awesome and even a rep in the corporate office(?)/call center(?) over the phone. They were also awesome. It *did* take a little longer than the online estimated time for it to be ready for me to test drive-- just 5 days longer -- as they were repairing something. Finding out that it needed a repair didn't bother me too much because it was a 2020 vehicle, and that meant the post-shipping inspection was real. I test drove it on October 9th. This is when I met Miss Colleen! She was the best and really easy to talk to! When I told her it was my first time buying, she really took her time and explained everything to me. I was able to do the 24-hour test drive and, even though I knew I wasn't going to keep it for the whole 24 hours, it was nice to have that option to really take it around town for a bit. It turned out that vehicle wasn't the exact one for me, so I went online and found a second one that was a higher trim level but still in my budget. This time rather than doing the process online I called Colleen who assured me that it would be no issue to start the process over with the new vehicle. She made it SUPER easy for me. I gave her the stock number, she double-checked a few details to make sure we were looking at the same vehicle, and then she even took my shipping payment over the phone so that I wouldn't miss the opportunity for this vehicle. (Red Renegades were going QUICKLY lol). Fast forward to October 17th when I was able to test drive the newer one. This time I did the 20-minute test drive with Colleen in the passenger seat. When we got back to the office, she ran my financing options. She didn't give me any trouble about having been pre-qualified through my bank. My bank's interest rate was lower than Carmax. (I had heard horror stories that regular dealerships disliking it when you come in with financing from a different source) We completed all of my paperwork, with her explaining everything along the way (including the varying warranties). I paid my down payment and got my copies of the paperwork. The process took about 2 hours from test drive to post-purchase photo. (About 20 minutes of that was me trying to get my insurance started lol) I'm 3 weeks in and there hasn't been a single issue that I, nor my mechanic friend, found. I plan to drive this SUV for as long as I can so it'll be a while before I'm car shopping again. When I need to, I will definitely buy another vehicle from CarMax Augusta ^_^"
"My car buying experience was great and painless. Due to almost everything being able to be taken care of online, my stay at the dealership was enjoyable. Coleen took really good care of me and even gave me pointers about my car buying experience then and after."
