Reviews
"Wonderful location, warm and welcoming instructors and students. Highly recommend for any level of your Aikido journey."
"This review is long over due. Although it’s been eight years since I moved, I consider the people of this dojo family. Sensei Max Sherman is a patient, kind and informative teacher. It’s a very loving environment that helped me thrive in Aikido and as a person. If you are interested, you won’t regret attending class at Island Aikido. :)"
"Island Aikido is the perfect Dojo in every sense. The style of Aikido practiced there is AAA, which was founded by Fumio Toyoda Sensei a direct student of Morihei Ueshiba O-Sensei. The class size is not too large which gives all the students a chance to learn at their own pace, in an intimate environment. Island Aikido is headed by Sensei Max Sherman (3rd dan), a warm, disciplined, knowledgable and enthusiastic leader. I have learned so much from him, not only about the principles of Aikido, but also about how to apply those principles in my daily life. He is assisted by Sensei Micheal Griffin, a friendly, kind, and very accessible teacher, who takes time out of his very busy schedule to help with extra classes and one-on-one training. The Dojo is affiliated with other really good Dojos in the region, where there are many more brilliant Sensei, who also offer frequent training seminars. My mentors at Island Aikido have instilled in me a love for Aikido that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I cannot speak highly enough about them."
