"normal high school but the dress-code is crazy. Saw a girl get sent to ISS because she had a rip (that was covered by a patch) the size of a penny at her mid-thigh (The patch was on the inner side of her pants). She had to miss out on classes until her mom went and got her new pants. The ppl who look out for dress-code violations always seem to just look at the girls, its not really fair. Also if you're going to CP classes then be prepared to stay focused no matter how many kids are being crazy."
"I think this school is pretty great for a high school. Dress code complaints are understandable, but what do you expect from a public school? Have had some amazing teachers, others not so great...but I have never failed to learn in the classroom setting. A bit of drama, but easy to stay out of. Something for everyone and absolutely no bullying (that I have witnessed). Thankful for the great school options around Greenville county! Everyone is entitled to express their own experiences, but I have to say I am more than pleased!!!"
"A little about WHHS, first off not such a bad school...if your about the drama! I'm a 10th grader and so far I don't like it. Wonderful opportunities? Yes, of course. Great teachers? That's where things get a little off balanced. It depends, so far I have had wonderful teachers! But that doesn't mean I will in the years to come. But the dress code is absolutely ridiculous!! I think we should be able to have holes in our jeans above our knee, and we should be able to wear spaghetti straps, is it wrong because it's a shoulder?? No it's wrong because of what society makes it out to be. We should be able to wear what we mostly want. It's school! Maybe if we stop teaching kids the wrong thing and actually teach them to make society a better place we won't have to worry about dress codes. And the tolerance for drama or issues...is they don't really care that much. So would I recommend whhs? No. Personally the opportunities are wonderful. But the students and staff are not so wonderful. But that's just my opinion."
"PERSPECTIVE FROM A 10TH GRADER AT WHHS I get how a bunch of kids on here are just writing memes, but in all seriousness, the quality of the school depends on your teacher. If you have a bad teacher, you'll have a bad time. I was lucky to have mostly great teachers (a french teacher, an enviro sci teacher, a bio teacher, and an english 1 & 2 teacher) but the thing is, the lower you go in class rank (CP, Honors, AP) the more bad the class will be. there are some teachers that will treat you like paperwork and don't care if you fail or succeed, and others that care about you like you are their family. I've gone from below CP math to honors and from that experience i can tell you; the more focused kids (and less noisy classes) are in honors and above (not including languages, as you have to stay in one ranking till the 3rd class). The atmosphere however is very mixed, there is kids who scream at the top of their lungs in the stairways (which is not fun to hear when there is 75 people trying to walk to their classes in an stairway that echoes) and are obnoxious, but there is other kids who are very study-focused and hard-working. Also, one of the reviews says that the male teachers are known to be perverts, although i don't think they are known for that, there is some teachers (mostly subs though) that are a little pervy, but couple years ago a coach was suspected to be having relations with 2 female students, but i don't think this defines the schools male teacher population AT ALL. I've had 2 male teachers so far, and both are very kind and hard-working individuals. For the population, there is a great mix of races and ethnicities! Also, if you are part of the LGBTQ+ community, since there are many kids from the Fine Arts Center that also attend WHHS, there is a decent mix of sexualities, but i still hear idiotic remarks in the hallways calling someone "f*g" or "gay" but overall, depending on the people you mix with, most are accepting. (We do have a straight-gay alliance club for anyone wondering) The food is not great, so if you're a picky kid about what you eat (or especially if you are allergic to gluten or dairy) then i recommend you pack your lunch... Since congress has passed the law that says pizza is now a veggie, there is a lack of healthy foods (you can still buy fruit though!) For athletics, i'm not the one to ask, all i know is that our school REALLY loves football... For grades-wise, its all about you, there is some help after school but no one is going to bottle-feed you. Saftey-wise, i mean... its a high school, so there ARE fights, but so far i've only known of around 3 big ones this year. The school is really big on ID checks, so if you don't have your ID, you better get a new one or off to ISS you go. Dresscode-wise... Its idiotic. I've been to a highly strict school before and WHHS is more strict that that, plus it's totally sexist (in my experience) as i've been boys wearing shorts that look like they are swim trunks and will be just fine, but if a girl wears jeans with a rip the size of her pinkie finger nail, she's off to detention (that actually happened to my friend). If you are looking for a school with; -relaxed dress-code, healthier food options, personal attention from teachers when it comes to being confused in work, a TOTALLY safe community for transgender/gay students, and more project-based work I wouldn't recommend WHHS (in fact, i would recommend looking into NEXT high school) if you ARE looking for a school with; -strict dress-code, lots of students, many class options, high population diversity, average to unhealthy food choices, a no-one-will-bottle-feed-you perspective on grades, and if you have an ability to ignore class distractions then yes, i would recommend WHHS"
"First off this school has a reputation of having male staff that is absolute perverts. Second off, during their graduation ceremony parents who were excited and cheered for their child was escorted out by mall cops and could not come back in for the commencement. 4 years of high school and booster club funds given and I can't even cheer for my child ???? What a joke ! Many parents and friends were escorted out for cheering and celebrating their childs accomplishment. Finally....I met a student in the lobby who was crying with his parents because his families car broke down the day before and he missed rehearsal. As a result they would not let him walk and receive his diploma with the rest of his classmates. What a disgrace ! Uncontrollable events that took place and this young man misses out one of the most important times of his life because he missed rehearsal. I hope the parents of that young man sue the school for the way his legacy was tainted over missing a rehearsal. There is nothing to rehearse !!! All you do is follow in line and go to your seat.....its not a broadway play."
