"My husband and I have had the worst experience with the team at the Milton Ave location and the customer service that oversees all the branches with our mortgage. I have let all my friends and family know to never bank with them or utilize any other their loan offerings. We were not able to come in persons for our pre -approval or throughout the loan process to review anything along the way. Communication was poor in the way of emails not being coherent and lack of calls or emails back in a timely manner (our standard is 24-48 hours) when we had any questions. Now that it comes to the making our payment it seems like the only way to make the payment is in person due to their very outdated banking system. We had been asking from the date of closing how to make payments to our bank lawyer, loan officer and sales manager and was met with just wait for the mortgage to statement to come out three days before the due date. Finally found out that we could complete payment online. Had our payment taken twice and had it pending for over a week. Reached out to the phone number given when errors appeared in the system when trying to submit my payment. Called a total of four times (was told to just sit tight and wait- no one apparently has dealt other anything like this before )before I requested a supervisor and has been met with even more attitude and lack of understanding in the matter of five grand missing from my account and being told to just wait and make a duplicate payment in person. Now one is willing to take a call and are just okay with just taking our money and letting us sit and wait, again!"
"Do not come here to get your a construction loan ! The process takes forever, they ignore emails, miss appointments, lose documentation. Becomes very frustrating after awhile. Last thing I was told by Christine was that we were at the final step and his boss needed to approve the documentation and it would only take a couple of days and it’s been over a month and nothing has happened. I eventually had to go a different route to get the help I actually needed."
"Terrible bank. Been with them 16 years. Never once would they approved any loans or a credit line for me. I went to the credit union down the road and instantly got a personal loan the same day I opened my account. Snobby and quite pervilage people work there. They treat you like garbage. Run away as fast as you can."
"Been banking here for years. Lovely tellers and had easy time getting any and all problems solved. However, in light of COVID, I do not like going in person. I know the staff is trying, but other customers make it unsafe for me to come in. I love the drive through! Being able to bank from my my car has been life-changing. Also shows the bank cares about its customers and staff alike."
"If you asked me 20 years ago where to get a mortgage, I would have said Solvay Bank. But I no longer recommend obtaining a mortgage through Solvay Bank. They still have a competitive rate (though not outstanding) but the hassle and deception are not worth it. In my most recent experience, rather than being upfront about what they needed they kept changing their story throughout the process. When I challenged them as to why they told me something different so many times they responded with hostility. Truthfully, if I hadn't already paid the application fee I would have found another lender. My advice to Solvay Bank: Do banking how you used to 20 years ago. Be upfront and communicate well with your customers."
