"The staff at this vet clinic are very pleasant. However, I am extremely dissatisfied with their pricing. My dog developed a hematoma in her ear flap. The vet examined her for only 90 seconds and suggested leaving it untreated, which I agreed with. However, the charge for this brief consultation was $70. There are other vet clinics in the area with equally friendly staff and much more reasonable prices."
"They are always so sweet and doting on my cat and all other animals I see them interact with. They are communicative, caring, and cover the full picture, listening to concerns and offering advice."
"After a nightmare experience from my last vet, I needed to take my cat somewhere different. Luckily, and thankfully, I found West Ashley Vet Clinic! Some details that I absolutely love about their facility is the separated entrances for cats and dogs, the care/gentleness that the Vets give my cat each time, following up thoroughly and looking into any questions I have, and listening attentively to me during the appointment. I haven't found anything that I don't like and will continue to visit WA Vet Clinic whenever the need arises for my cat! Thank you so much for everything your team has done so far! Dr. Spitz is especially incredible, but the team at WA Vet Clinic all give outstanding care!"
"Service was okay. I recently moved to Charleston, SC from Austin, TX and this place was recommended to me by someone from the dog park downtown. I went for my dogs annual checkup/vaccinations and bought a years worth of Simparica Trio (I do this every year). The bill total was about $100 more than what I was paying in Austin (for the same services and products). The service seemed a little rushed, staff/vet tech/vet were fine, and they tried to push several tests/services I didn't need. The worst part, and I can't 100% confirm this, but my dog has a cough/cold (I think it's Kennel Cough) 8 days after visiting this facility. He's 3.5 years old and has never been sick before... Weird coincidence. Overall, I just didn't have a great experience and I won't be going back there for my dogs next annual vet appointment. I'm not mad at this vet - I'm just giving my honest feedback from my experience and I wish them the best."
"*this is to replace my previous review. TL;DR: Expensive, deceitful, unnecessary testing and not thorough examinations. Been going here for 10+ years. I have been going here since 2013, and for a while, I thought they were great. But prices have increased, which I get with inflation and all that. But they started pushing services I didn't need without fully explaining the reasons why or willing to discuss alternatives. For example, my cat having plaque, they claimed he needed a dental and was priced at $1k. So, I went elsewhere for a second opinion to another reputable vet. The price was wayyy less, they listened to my concerns for what I felt was needed, what I could afford, and we worked it out. Turns out my cat was so chill they would just scrape the plaque off in the vets office. AND the exam was soooo much more thorough and I was shown the xrays and they discussed everything with me. In all my years at West Ashley Vet, every exam was very surface with no real explanation and extensive prices. Now, last week, I took my dogs. They are 10 years old. I asked for an estimate, thinking I was being smart and not going to be surprised this time. Well, I was very wrong. They did half me two pieces of paper but there were two different prices and I just assumed it was two different prices with different things added on since I was getting the 3 years rabies and maybe one was without. Why would I ask for an estimate, and it's not the full estimate?? But the woman who handed it to me explained nothing to be, didn't tell me it was per dog or anything, just started talking about my dogs playing or something. So we get the exam and tests done and as we leave the internet is down so we can't pay. I come back in the next morning to drop off samples and pay... I expected to pay the $530 on the estimate, but they say it's $1k. I can't not pay now because the tests and exams have been done. What they did when not explaining anything was purposefully devious. I normally pay maybe $400 when they both come in, and now over $600 in tests have been added, and they didn't feel as though any of this should be discussed? Deceitful and absurd. I've spoken to others I knew who apparently had similar experiences. I had been meaning to leave this vet for at least a year now after taking my cats out and experiencing 10000% better and more extensive care with vets who talk to me about their health. Part of this is my fault for not being more thorough and blindly trusting a vet I've been going to for 10 years. But to only have a $23 office visit be waived because they want to check something doesn't mean anything. I told them my concerns, and I hope they listen and inform other customers of the expensive out of the ordinary services they are going to do. Me voicing my concern cannot help my situation, but maybe it can help others. *the day I brought my people-shy Shiba back, a random girl I've never seen, didn't introduce herself. She just sat on the back on my dog with her arm thrown over her neck and wondered why she freaked out. I was so fed up I couldn't even respond, so I'm glad it only lasted 5 seconds. I'm so done with this place and will continue to warn everyone I know about the practices."
