"This is a truly special restaurant from the team that brought us Southbound (itself a spectacular restaurant). At Honeysuckle Rose, the team has created a space and a vibe that feels like an elegant dinner party with friends. The space is small and intimate. The night we were there, there were about 30 people in the room, and I think they could have accommodated 6 or 8 more people without feeling crowded. The room is dark, sealed off from the outside, but with colorful artwork, including a wonderful painting of Prince and another of Jimi Hendrix. The music reflects the art and is joyful and fun. Likewise, our host, the Sommelier, and the whole staff are proud of what they've created and are there to have fun. The whole vibe is upbeat, celebratory, and exciting. Ah, but the food! It is truly a wonderful experience to enjoy such an artful and elegant meal in an atmosphere as relaxed, friendly, unpretentious, and comfortable as they have created. When you enter, while you're there, and as you leave, you know this is a special evening. Each of the eight courses has a wonderfully paired wine. The choices are eclectic and sophisticated. Even the nerdiest of wine nerds will discover new wines and new ideas for pairing. Our evening included wines from 3 continents and grapes from ancient to modern. Each married easily with its course and matched the sophistication of the food. Simply inspired. The food was beautifully presented and perfectly executed. The portions were small, as befits an 8-course meal. Each one delivered remarkable layers of flavor and texture. You want to go slowly and savor each mouthful and enjoy how the wine and food enhance each other. With each course, the Chef discusses the food, and the Sommelier presents the wine choice. They do so in a down-to-earth, friendly manner. You can see that they love what they do and are excited to share it with you. Elegance without pretense. A celebration. It's hard to imagine a better evening. Thank you!"
"Cannot say enough good things about Honeysuckle Rose! I was 30 weeks pregnant when I joined for dinner with my husband and I was a little worried about doing a tasting menu with my dietary restrictions of being pregnant. But lo and behold one of the best dining experiences I have ever had!! The mocktail pairing alone was insanely impressive and so delicious, all the dishes were so amazing that there wasn’t even 1 dish that stood out the best. They were seriously ALL incredible."
"THE most extraordinary dining experience EVAH!! I was blessed and fortunate to get an opportunity to dine here. From the moment you are seated to the moment you leave, you are made to feel special. The care taken to describe each course and wine pairing was so authentic… The cuisine was phenomenal. I ate everything on my plate. I did not leave a morsel. I paced myself and I’m so glad I didn’t eat lunch that day. 8 freakin courses! And not teenie tiny portions either. Since the menu changes I’ll refrain from listing what I had. I just hope my pics are worth it for you. I must go back!! I’m still daydreaming about it all frankly."
"This was the best tasting menu experience I've ever had. I can honestly say I enjoyed it more than the Michelin 2-star restaurant we tried in Spain, or the last one we did recently in New Zealand. The atmosphere was classy but laid back, with great music playing all night to keep the mood light. The introductions of the dishes by the staff were informative but also had some casual editorial bits thrown in there to match the vibe of the place. We absolutely loved it. As for the food... WOW. Just wow. So many flavors playing off each other and pairing perfectly with the wine they chose for each of the 8 courses. My wife chose the mocktail option instead of wine, and her drinks were each complex and creatively paired as well. I would give them 10 stars if I could. If you're anywhere near Charleston, don't miss your chance to eat here."
