"Pinckney is an amazing national wildlife preserve area along the South Carolina coastal waterways. Spring is definitely the best time to visit. A number of man-made freshwater lakes provide a habitat used as rookeries for many species. Ibis lake contains many species of heroin that is simply amazing. And as the name implies, there are plenty of ibis. And alligators. Of course! It's South Carolina! There are plenty of roads and trails for hiking and bikes. However, this is a wildlife preserve. There are no bathrooms, sources of water nor food."
"Gorgeous hike! Free parking. Came mostly to bird and saw 40+ species. Hiked to the end point (about 4 hours out and back). Clean, quiet, and beautiful."
"We love the trails here, the bird sanctuary is awesome! The butterfly garden is super cool! Our only complaint is we can’t bring our dog."
"Excellent place to ride bikes or walk and look at the wildlife. My fiance and I biked all over the island, and had a great time on the trails! The trails are well maintained and easy to navigate. There are points of interest and a self-guided online tour as well. Saw some interesting wildlife!! :) There is an awesome beach at White Point!"
"Very quiet, peaceful and felt like we were the only people there. The rookery of egret and ibis was a significant site to behold. Rode bikes about 10 miles all over the island's trails. Scenic but a bumpy ride. Even with bike suspension I wish I had worn padded bike shorts to soften the ride."
