"Great hike with a great view at the end. The trail is an easy hike if just going to the overlook. Well maintained trail and overlook. Enjoy!"
"A very interesting and challenging hike...it was rated as strenuous and the rating was accurate .trail was well marked and maintained..an excellent viewing spot for the falls from the red trail endpoint..."
"Labeled this as hard, due to doing the Dismal Trail loop. Started at 8:15AM and made it back to the parking lot by 11:30AM. I am in my upper 50’s and enjoy vigorous hikes, but this trail is definitely a workout. See below for easier out & back instructions. Started from trailhead parking lot and walked the Raven Cliff Falls - RED trail to the falls overlook (30 minutes). From overlook down Dismal Trail - PURPLE till it met the Naturaland Trust - PINK trail (40 minutes). From that intersection to single log bridge over creek (10 minutes). Uphill from bridge to large rock cliff outcropping (20 minutes). Outcropping to suspension bridge (20 minutes). The bridge to the suspension bridge was the toughest part of the hike, lots of big climbs up, up, and more up! Watch for the PINK trail markers so you don’t get off track. Suspension bridge to the intersection of Gum Gap - BLUE trail (20 minutes). Gum Gap back to RED trail and to parking lot (1 hour). As the sign shows, if doing this long loop, bring water, food, hiking boots, map, and I’d encourage trekking poles. Didn’t meet anyone on this loop until I got past the suspension bridge. If you want an out and back trip to the suspension bridge, definitely take the Gum Gap Trail (BLUE) from the overlook (left coming back from the overlook; or right at the T-intersection from the RED trail). See photos for parking/hiking rates posted as of 4/2023."
"I hiked about 12 miles total on a few different trails. It was a bit challenging but the views are worth it. Just make sure to bring plenty of water and food to keep your energy up!"
"Gorgeous trail with some challenging terrain. Lots of creatures and beautiful views. Make sure to watch were you step, saw lots of newts hanging out on the trail :) Parking is limited so get there early!"
