"Not the most scenic of hikes, can give you good work out for sure. It is a hike through woods once cut down so not old growth forest. Can continue on Foothills trail or just do a section in the area."
"We hiked from A8-A12. 20 miles in a day. The trails are super well maintained. No handicap accessible trails. Parking is easy. Their website is very easy and simple to navigate. Good for kids too. Very beautiful views of the mountains and river. Enjoyed every bit of it."
"This is South Carolina's premiere trail for backpacking and long distance trail runs. If you're thru hiking I recommend going west to east so you can lighten your pack and build up your hiking legs before the steep sections at the end. If you're doing an ultra run, I recommend going east to west so you can start with the steepest section and still get the remote Jocassee section out of the way in the first 50 miles. The trail is fantastic year-round and in all weather conditions. Watch out for yellow jackets in the summer!"
