"This office was so great. I felt like the doctors and employees really listened to me and worked hard to help me. They explained the costs for the help and what they did. The price was very reasonable - especially compared to other places. They were able to get me in for a visit really quickly. Dr. Kip is very helpful!"
"Was told they were in network with my insurance. TRICARE (VETERANS), NOT TRUE. Being out of network means it costs the patient MORE, and the Dentist DOES NOT HAVE TO ABIDE BY THE RULES OF THE INSURANCE. MY cap for the year is met already and I wouldn't owe any thing but as it turns out I'm required to pay $1500 out of pocket. This is way too much and the Dentistry profession needs to be ashamed of themselves for charging this much to patients with insurance. Especially veterans"
"There are not enough GREAT things to say about Dr Kip Covington and his wonderful team! First and foremost, DO NOT waste so many years dealing with dentists if you are not getting relief for your TMJ!!! I will spare you most the details of my 8 year TMJ journey. It started while living in WA. However, we eventually decided to move out of state. By the time we settle in South Carolina I had been seen by 5 different dentists in 4 different states including WA, IL, TN & finally SC. I had had just as many different styles of mouth guards. The dentist I was seeing here in SC prior to Dr Kip changed the type of mouth guard yet again only to find my jaw was still popping and hurting each time I ate something. So, he decided to try Clear Coat/Invisalign hoping it might change my bite even though my teeth were already straight. This took about 10 months and resulted in yet another new mouth guard because my dentist felt that my teeth had shifted just enough to where he thought I needed another new mouth guard. After all this, my jaw pain switched sides and became painful all the time. Knowing he couldn't help me any further, he referred me to Dr Kip. The game plan going forward was discussed during my consultation with Dr Kip. It would start with massage therapy and I would be seen again by Dr Kip two weeks later. I had 2 visits with the massage therapist. The first one went well while the second one caused a lot of stabbing pain. Three days after my second massage was my follow-up with Dr Kip. By this time, the pain was so intense I couldn't control the tears while in the waiting area in front of the other patrons. I was so embarrassed, but was even more embarrassed when the stabbing got even worse to the point I was fully crying by the time I was seen by Kyle. I was a hot mess to say the least. Kyle excused himself and returned within a minute with Dr Kip. This changed the game plan. Plus, by this time, Dr Kip also had the imaging & reviews back and had a better idea what was going on with my joint. He normally doesn't start PRF injections this early in his treatment process, however, he is very compassionate and felt it would help give me some relief. This is something that was new to me and while I hate anything & everything relating to needles, I was willing to try anything!!! While it didn't take away all of my pain, I must say, it did help to the point I wasn't crying by the next day. I've now had 4 PRF treatments and have had tremendous results!!"
"I want to start this review by saying that I am currently both a patient and employee by SC Dental Sleep and TMJ. I started working here about 2 months ago and I had no idea that there was an alternative to a CPAP. I came in with my own serious issues with sleep apnea. Everyday I began to see patient after patient come in one way with pain and a whole host of problems and leave with relief and some answers that for years they didn't have. Story after story was told to me about how in many cases our services literally changed their lives. After being sick and tired of being sick and tired I decided to mention my condition to Doctor Covington. With a big grin he told me to get in the chair to be treated. Fast forward to now I have been in my sleep appliance for over 2 weeks and I have never felt better. My sleep apnea was severe and I couldn't remember the last time I had a good nights rest. My wife used to be so concerned because of how I would stop breathing multiple times during the night. I would have no energy and be constantly tired and groggy. After using the sleep appliance I have stopped snoring (a huge relief for my wife) and I wake up completely refreshed. Where I used to have no energy and hit a wall by the early afternoon, I now have abundant energy and feel like for the first time I'm actually able to enjoy the day and be fully present. So now I not only hear these stories of triumph everyday but I have become one myself. The colleagues I work with are so kind and knowledgeable. They will do anything they can to help you and Doctor Covington is the kindest, most patient, and most knowledgeable doctor I have ever known. It is a pleasure to call him my sleep doctor but also an honor to work for. If you've been struggling with Sleep Apnea or TMJ, please I beg you to not waste another moment of your time in pain and hopelessness. Come in for a consult, take the leap of faith for treatment, and I promise you it will be worth it. 10/10 I would recommend."
"I love going to SC Dental Sleep & TMJ. I have struggled with lock jaw, jaw pain, cracking, stiffness, and overall sleep issues for years now and have been super reluctant to look into it for fear of having to go through a painful and expensive surgical procedure. A friend sent me in the direction of SCD S & TMJ and already I have learned so much more about not only what is going on in my jaw, but how it impacts all areas of my life and the knowledge I've gained has given me peace of mind and more importantly, SOLUTIONS. I also cannot say enough great things about the Staff in this office. Joshua at the front desk is so kind and helpful, Luz is the same, and super knowledgeable in everything she does, she puts me at total ease in the chair. And finally, Dr. Covington is more patient than any Doctor I've gone to see, he sits and explains everything thoroughly, answers my questions, and has interactive conversation so that he can make fully informed decisions on the best routes of treatment. Truly, an awesome group!! Hard to come by people who show so much care every step of the way! Oh, and my jaw feels MUCH better!"
