"I came here for a staff conference The rational for a 5 star rating is because. 1. Clean - my room, the bathroom the public areas and the gym were immaculately clean. The gym is very well stocked. All the bells and whistles. The only thing is the mirror has wood trim which makes it difficult to watch while lifting."

"First time at this Marriott and truly disappointed. We arrived to the room and were placed on the first floor which I thought was nice till you realize there is a smell and that halls were wet and portable fans drying up the carpet? They had construction going so it was busy in the garage with them. The hotel I’m sure is old and was probably a great spot when they first opened up but currently it needs work! Our room had dirt out food particles in arrival and dirty sheets on the pull out! I informed front desk and they did not seem to care their housekeeping was leaving rooms partially dirty. I all very attentive to details so maybe anyone else would not even notice or care but I do and we had our six year old with us on this trip so obviously cleanliness is key. I did appreciate the restaurant and the free shuttle to and from the downtown historic district."

"Great location, day time front desk is friendly but that’s about it. As other reviews have mentioned, the noise level from other rooms is unbearable as you can feel how loud it is from the video. We could not sleep till 5am when neighbors were done with partying because they refused to answer the door and the hotel was fully booked so could not get another room."

"Great location and customer service. Meghan and Gabriel provided fantastic service at the front desk. Gabriel is a gem. He greeted me by name each day, quickly provided a replacement hair dryer to my room and recommended great restaurants to try. My room was clean and comfortable. The hotel might want to reconsider the AC energy saving feature as it left the room a bit humid upon return each day and sometimes reset at night while sleeping. Overall, a great stay with very friendly staff."

"Stayed here back in July while on my summer vacation. Had seen some not so nice reviews several weeks after reserving my room, so naturally I was getting nervous, but decided to risk it. And boy am I glad it did! It was absolutely AMAZING!! I never caught his name, but the gentlemen working the front desk upon my arrival (button down shirt with the different playing card suits) was the most friendly hotel person I've met, and made me feel welcomed immediately! My room was immaculate! Top floor corner room with a balcony. The views were just incredible! The only complaint to be made about the room, was the mattress of the pullout couch bed was worn a bit thin, and you could feel the metal support bars in your back while sleeping, according to my mother who was with me. But SUCH a good hotel. And the restaurant food was amazing too! I definitely recommend this place! Not if, but WHEN I return to Charleston for vacay, I know where I'll be staying!!"
