"Nice view, nice staff, super convenient location to Manhattan. But the alarm system of the building is terribly designed. It has been mistakenly triggered too many times. It would happen in the middle of the night, early morning, noon… And it can’t be turned off until the fire department comes."
"Having lived at The Pier Apartments for two incredible years, I feel compelled to share my exceptional experience. The standout aspect of this residence is the remarkable team, especially the property manager, Sophia. She is a true professional who consistently went above and beyond. Whether it was addressing maintenance issues swiftly or offering personalized solutions to any concerns, Sophia's dedication to residents' comfort is unparalleled. The front desk staff, particularly Ismael and Victor, deserve a special mention. Their concierge services were impeccable, always greeting residents with a smile and ready to assist with anything from parcel deliveries to local recommendations. They truly made the building feel like a welcoming community. The apartment itself boasts modern amenities, a prime location with amazing views, and a vibrant community atmosphere. It's more than just a residence; it's a place where you feel genuinely cared for and valued. I highly recommend The Pier Apartments to anyone seeking a top-tier living experience, backed by a stellar team who truly makes it feel like home. Thank you, Sophia, Ismael, Victor, and everyone at The Pier Apartments for an unforgettable stay!"
"Been living here two months now, very cool Apartments. Great views, good amenities, and quick maintenance. Gentry is very good and you don’t hear loud noises from neighbors or outside. I work in Downtown Manhattan so it’s a very quick 15 min commute. Best part is the included gym, which isn’t the best equipped but has just enough and costs a mandatory $50/month but the proximity and views from the gym are awesome"
"We have been tenants for the past year and have generally had a positive experience (despite a 20% rent increase which is forcing us to move elsewhere). However, in the past two weeks, we have had two major issues (outside of the elevator and fire alarm issues mentioned). 1. The apartment above us had a pipe burst which leaked into our apartment. Photos below show the leak into the hallway as well as the resulting floor damage. It has been a week and maintenance came by to take pictures but has not provided a rent concession to us or fixed the floors. This is a tripping hazard and is highly dangerous if there is mold or other debris we are unaware of. We called on 9/18, emailed management on 9/19, and the only response has been maintenance taking pictures but no action. 2. We rented the clubroom for a private event ($500 cost btw) and the AC was not working and it was consistently 88-91 degrees over a 5 hour period. We requested a refund on 8/20 and not heard back. It’s absurd to a) pay $500 for an amenity space and b) have it be that hot when hosting 20+ people. Our guests ended up sitting outside (marginally less hot) versus the $500 amenity space we had booked. Update: we received a $250 refund for club lounge. For the flooring, maintenance finally took out the floorboards but we had messed up floors for two weeks and then moved out, but no rent concession (leasing office did not respond to my multiple emails)."
"This used to be great place to live but everything has changed under new management. Support staff is really great (Anthony, Ismael, Marybel) but people who sit in the office seem to have no clue about what’s happening in the property - all they care for is to keep bumping your rent and charge you something extra in any way possible. Other reviews have already talked about the terrible state the building is in. Elevators are broken most of the time, security is a joke - doors are not fixed for months. I am going to highlight few instances that show management has no concern for tenant’s property, money or safety 1. We came back from a vacation and found that there has been a leakage from one of the drainage pipes in the garage (see images attached). Our car was covered with slush and junk. Worst part is that management had no idea about the leakage (which from the state of our car could tell was not a minor one). We came back and reported this to management and got our parking spot changed. Just to highlight the high turn around time, it took more than a month for building to fix the leakage at old spot (feel sorry for cars parked around that old spot!) 2. We accepted a really big increase in rent conditional on our apartment getting renovated. Renovation is done by external vendor and folks at Pier need to do the finishing work and install all the fixtures. After renovation was finished it took them ~4 months to install the fixtures in bathroom. This was after multiple follow ups. Walls were left in terrible condition (see attached image) and were finally finished after ~6 months of constant follow-ups!"
