"Pat was great. He was helpful, courteous, and responsive at every stage of the process. G&L's quality and customer service reinforced my decision to buy local for our kitchen floor!"
"We wanted to support a local business as they are only a few blocks away. Sadly we were disappointed. They didn't vacuum after the installation was complete which really killed the wow factor of seeing it done because they left me a clean up job to do. Also they didn't haul away the old carpet - they left it on my curb not even bagged up! I'm going to have to bag it to prevent bits of gross old carpet pad from littering my street. I called to let the owner, Paul know about the old carpet being left. He said he'd send someone on Monday. Today is Friday. I asked him if it's typical for carpet installers not to vacuum and he said yes. A quick Google search proved him wrong. Just so disappointed. UPDATE Thank you for your response. Thank you for picking up the carpet - our invoice doesn't say anything about it. Once we vacuumed our new carpet it was easy to see that it was beautifully installed. We are very happy with it. Do consider adding vacuuming to finish your installations - it would be a really great final touch."
"I’ve had G&L install carpets (4x, once being an entire house) and vinyl flooring (1x) for me on and off for a few years. They have a good selection of remnants and lots of samples and carpet rolls to browse. They tracked down vinyl plank flooring I already installed and wanted more of, by calling suppliers all over, and found some! I was really happy I could have multiple rooms matching, they did a lot of legwork for me. Their bathroom installations have been great, moving out toilets, and caulking all seams nicely, which not everyone does. Once they found a leaky toilet valve and warned me about it. The carpet installations have been great and on time. John makes good recommendations based on room layout to be efficient and not waste carpeting. I like them because they’re local and donate to our community organizations. Whether I want to browse tenants"
"I was a remodeling contractor for close to 20 years so I always either subcontracted my flooring or bought directly from manufactures. So here I am four years after closing my construction company and I'm remodeling my basement and trying to get it done before Christmas so my wife will in turn be happy :) I went to G&L for a couple reasons. First, they're local (for me). Second, for as long as I can remember, they have sponsored NPR programming. And finally I was kind of anxious to be on the receiving end of great construction related customer service. On the up-side: Paul did make sure that my carpet was installed on the promised day (3 days before Christmas)! On the down-side: His troll of an installer introduced himself as "the carpet guy", then grunted past me as he made himself at home in my house. This project was measured and priced and in writing (twice just to be sure). I was flabbergasted as Troll told his helper how they were going to install the carpet 'around' the washer, dryer, freezer, and random box sitting in the corner. There was no talking about it. Troll obviously didn't want to be there and he was going to make me pay. In the end, Paul and Troll came to some kind of agreement that was to result in my carpet being installed properly. As one might immagine I was kind of afraid to leave these guys in my home without supervision but I had to go to work. When I got home, what I saw was beyond amazing. My house looked like an all out construction zone. There were empty (and half empty) buckets of adhesive. Scraps of carpet, bags, plastic and everything else strewn all over the place. There was glob of half-dried adhesive on my new carpet. Flat out embarrassing. The actual installation was average. I was never asked what color metal edging I wanted. They picked one out for me. There was a seam directly in the center of the hallway that clearly shows. A few weeks after Christmas I went and talked with Paul and to his credit, he was very apologetic. He asked me what I wanted to make it right. I explained to him that all I ever wanted to begin with was a great experience."
"After going to Lowes, Home Depot and some other flooring places my wife and I settled on G&L for our purchase. The owner was responsive, calling back exactly when he said he would, with a great price and willingness to assure we can get the product that we have been searching months for. When we arrived to make the purchase, the gentleman spent close to a full hour of time with us to explain everything and answer all the questions myself or my wife could think of. Will definitely go back!"
