"Stopped in to grab some wine and spirits for the holidays; wound up taking home a bottle of A & J Winery Chardonnay...the owner asked for a review to help determine if they were going to carry this item or not. They don't have a direct website to leave comments, so posting my review here; I have several years experience in the food and beverage industry...have had a good amount of formal training/exposure to wine but am not a somalia. No year on the bottle; per the description on the bottle, the wine is a product of Chili...supposed to be medium bodied with notes of green apple and tropical fruit with subtle nuances of oak and vanilla on the finish. My experience was that this seemed to be a young wine; with a little more age it might age to medium bodied...in its current state, the body is more on the crisp side. It's a clean chardonnay that presents a brightness up front, with the green apple notes it claims. The finish seems less oaky than the description might suggest, and has a touch of grassiness. This wine in its current state screams to be paired; would probably benefit from being paired with a more bold cheese (i.e. Grana Padano or Parmigiano Reggiano) or a more hearty fish like swordfish with a mango salsa...definitely has the ability to cut through."
