"I had to leave a review and express the uncomfortable situation I had here trying to buy some fruit yesterday smh First off I use to come to this store as a child with my mother all the time and she isn’t here anymore so it’s nice going there because it reminds me of the small things like buying fruit together. Yesterday I went by the store to get some fruit. I found a mango which was outside so I grabbed one to buy. There was a hispanic guy who works there and was looking at me while he was speaking to this older Spanish lady. I noticed him looking at me but didn’t think anything about it. I went inside to get more fruit and he ends up right behind me and I turn around and catch him looking at me again and turns around pretending to touch some fruit to act as if he was doing something. I felt so racially profiled and I feel terrible about this. I should’ve left and never bought anything. I stopped looking around for things to buy right after and decided to buy what was in my hands and leave. This place lost my business forever, even with the sentimental value it held for me. I will never ever be coming back. After that happened I felt another pair of eyes on me so i Turn around and this Asian man at the register was already staring at me. Disgusting place I should never have to deal with this. you’d think coming in with a Macy’s bag (I just bought two shoes) would show them I’m no thief. Lost my business forever."
"Nice little convenience in the neighborhood. They have all the vital grocery items and foods for an urgent need. Great for quick runs."
"I give this market 4 stars because they are very organized with fresh fruits and veggies available, as well as a variety of sodas and juices for when you're on the go. It is a bit overpriced on some items, so I recommend going here to get only must-haves. They have a large selection of seeds and nuts, as well latin-american american candies and spices. This is the place to go if you forgot an item on your dinner menu and need it really quick, or also if you need a snack, have the munchies or are in a rush and need to grab and go. I've been going here for over 25 years and they never fail me. Plus they give you a card so every time you spend $10, you get a stamp. After like 5 you get something free. Like eggs or milk. Lol gotta love them. And they recently added fresh fruit juice stand in the front with a separate cashier woman. She sells mango cups, coconut cut up, mixed fruit all with the spices and lime, however you want for $5. Much cheaper than everywhere else on 5th ave"
"[2019] I used to love shopping here though prices were higher than average, but I have had too many bad experiences with food I purchased there. It seems they mishandle or fail to rotate their stock: moldy sliced cheese, stale baked goods, "bargain" produce that should have been thrown out. The packaged cold cuts with mucous-like liquids still blights my mind. Yech!! It took a long time for my positive feelings about shopping there to dissipate, but that and the exposed rat trap on the bread shelf turned the trick. Sorry guys. Yech. Update September 2020: They seem to have taken some of this to heart - I cautiously begun to buy a few staple items there again for convenience. A shame they have started closing early and opening late, but maybe that's the necessary trade off."
"We go to this place for most of the basics, including produce. They have a great and varied selection, and the main produce selection tends to be pretty high quality. They'll have great specials and prices too when things are in season and abundant. Staff are generally friendly and helpful. Prices are good."
