"Been going there my entire life. Had numerous pets treated. Love everyone there as family. Great people. Dr John is great. Truly care about the pet and what is best for the animal. Not about the money;they're about caring for the pet property"
"I absolutely love all the staff at Northgate Animal Hospital. They genuinely care about the animals and Dr Hughes is so kind and caring when dealing with the pets. Thank God for all the wonderful people at Northgate Animal Hospital."
"I had to put my 20 something year old cat down (put to sleep) recently. The office staff were extremely kind, thoughtful and respectful. They even have a different entrance which brings you and your pet into there own special, quiet and peaceful room. There was a special table covered with a nice soft and warm blanket that I could put my kitty on. I was allowed to hold her, pet her, talk to her and love her when Dr. Hughes gave her the first injection which she didn't pull away from or cry. Dr. Hughes told me that the first injection was full of pain medicine and tranquilizer which was going to make her feel very calm and very sleepy. He told me he would be back in about 15 minutes to administer the last medication. After he left my girl and I in the room all I did was pet her just the way she liked. I made sure she could see me because I read somewhere that when putting your loving pet down it would make them feel less anxiety and stress because the person that they loved dearly was with them when they needed you most. So, while I was petting her and telling her over and over again how much I loved her, her eyes were getting heavier and heavier and I continued petting her, loving her and looking into her extremely drowsy eyes. I just couldn't help myself because while I showing her my love all I could do was cry my heart out. She finally got to the point where she was breathing very very slow and not really blinking her eyes anymore. I don't know if she still knew I was with her or not, but I never stopped talking and kissing and touching her. Then her last few minutes were up and Dr. Hughes came in with the last injection which was pink. He turned her slightly on her side while finding a vein in one of her back legs. She still let hold her and didn't fight any of us touching and holding her. Even while Dr. Hughes inserted the needle and administered her very last medicine. He took the needle out and put his stethoscope over heart and listened. He finally spoke in what seemed like less than a minute and told me she was gone. I couldn't help myself to stop crying and still petting her like she used to like. Dr. Hughes told me he was leaving the room and that I could take as long as I needed. I believe I took about 10 minutes of continually petting and kissing her. I continued to tell her how much I love her and I will miss her, but she will no longer feel pain. When I was getting ready to leave I was afraid she might get cold, so I wrapped her in the blanket she was resting on. So, to answer the question with this long response, Dr. Hughes and all of his staff have absolutely been respectful, caring and loving when it came to take care each of my families animals. I would recommend Dr. Hughes and his staff in a heartbeat."
"Dr Hughes fails to do routine exams on your fur babies. No blood work nothing. He knew he had to watch my little dogs anal glands as another vet we had to go to she had 1 ruptured and a spot on the other. He never checked them. Then 2 months after her physical with him she had a tumor the size of a golf ball. He stated it wasn’t her anal gland he seemed to think there’s only 1. Cornell found not only was it her anal gland for 2 years he was supposed to be watching but she had cushings disease found on a basic ER blood test going into Cornell. She was only 9 died last week from his incompetence. He wouldn’t even do a biopsy he looked at the tech and said he wouldn’t know how to stop the bleeding from a biopsy!! Now she’s gone. Had him for 23 years. And thinking back all he ever says is your dog has cancer and needs to be put down with no tests nothing! Take your furbabies to Cornell or doorbellvet or Hamlin coldwater. Because this guy is completely incompetent. My baby girl and her big brother now looking for her. She only lived half her life because of this place"
"We Love that Dr. Hughes, Wendy, Deb, Kathy, and Rachel have taken such Great care and compassion with our fur kid over the last 12 years. We have a new puppy and look forward to having the same experience going forward."
