"Sky Top Tower offers great views of the surrounding Shawangunk Mountains. On a clear day it is said that you can see as many as five different states from the tower. To reach the tower you can hike from the Mohonk Mountain House using the Sky Top Path or you can park at the Mohonk Gatehouse and hike the Sky Top Road hiking path. Be prepared to see a few small groups of people at the tower. It is popular for a reason. If you park at the Mohonk Gatehouse you will have to get and pay for a reservation online. Both of the paths to the tower are well maintained loose gravel roads The paths are easy to follow and are well marked. The view from the tower is very good. The tower itself is a landmark that was built in 1923 and can be seen for miles around. If you choose to hike from the Mohonk Gatehouse be sure to take in some of the other sites in the area. The paths around the lake by the hotel are also very good. Try Eagle Cliff path for some nice views of the lake, and the tower. If you can the gardens near the hotel are also quite special. If you're hiking from the gatehouse make sure to get a reservation/hiking pass online. You will not be allowed to hike without one. A must see for the great views and history of the area!"

"A 30 minute hike straight up from the Mohonk Mountain House or 1 hour and 15 minutes from the hiking trail parking lot. Trails are well maintained smooth gravel. There are several huts/overlooks perched on the Cliffside offering some amazing views and giving you a spot to relax on the way up. The tower is open and allows you to climb to the top. There is a strange cement pond next to it that feels a bit out of place, but also picnic tables and a great spot to relax, enjoy the breeze and views. Be sure to walk a little further and enjoy the more natural looking lily pond. I thought it was worth the $35 day pass for the hiking trails."

"Worth the hike! The view is awesome! We took a few little snacks with us and plenty of water. So beautiful!"

"Very nice hiking area with beautiful view all way around especially from the tower. Will take about an hour to get from parking lot to the top of the tower is just over 2 miles each way. I will give 5 star for the butterfly area but parking lot was very expensive $35 per person and you need to buy passes in advance online. We did it there on the phone with very bad service but there's no way you can pay at the gate."
