"Been taking my son here for the last few months. At first I thought he was nice & I did get a good first impression despite the fact that his office seemed dirty, dust everywhere aswell as the toys in the waiting area. I took my son in today & took my niece with me aswell. Dr. Hurwitz came in & asked my niece to wait in the waiting area & “go read a book or something”. I didn’t state anything in the moment. He checked my son & then asked us to meet him in his office. My niece came & he then stated “do you go to school” “are you expecting tons of phone calls” (because she had air pods in her ear) again I didn’t comment. He then proceeded to advise that my son had a cold and he would have his front desk write down an over the counter medication. I heard him yell to his front desk “write down dimetapp” because I heard I asked her if he can prescribe something else because I am not comfortable giving my son medication that is meant for children 6 years old and up. Another lady working in the office responded “then don’t give it to him”. At this point I was already getting irritated by the lack of professionalism by not only the doctor but his staff as well. My son is 8 months old, the medication he recommended is meant for children 6 years and up and the bottle states not to give to children 2 years and under, amongst many other side effects I’ve read on which is why I’m not comfortable giving it to my 8 month old. Dr. Hurwitz heard me and his front desk and he asked to speak with me. I went to his office told him my concerns in which he responded “it’s a free country you don’t have to give it to him”. As if I’m not aware I don’t have to give my child something I’m not comfortable giving him. It’s disappointing that what is meant to be a place of comfort & a place where you as a parent put your trust in they respond with rude remarks & do not take your considerations into account. You can be a very expirenced doctor but if you don’t have the decency to speak to your patients with respect & hear them out you lose all credibility. Customer service is important & it’s common sense to speak with respect & atleast advise why you feel this medication is of best option instead of responding with pure ignorance. Changing my sons doctor immediately."
