"I have a little boy that was born with limited heating, struggled with apraxia. We saw at least 5 speech therapists in 2 years from the age of 2 and half to 4 years old looking for someone who would connect with our son, be patient and be a friend. We found that with Marissa. Marissa evaluated my son and told me she could and would help. She thought at the time (October 2019) that he could be done or getting close to major changes in his speech by December 2022. (Apraxia) takes a little longer and with my sons hearing that was a reasonable goal. When we started with Marissa our son wasn’t understandable, unfortunately when he spoke. Sign language was his way of communicating and he wanted to be lazy in his speaking. He was not confident with his peers, he was quiet and often was made fun of by other children when he would speak. 3 years later with the help of Marissa, our son graduated this week (a month early from the goal )and was released from Speech therapy. He is a totally different child. He speaks beautifully and clearly. He has confidence that I have never seen with him, and I see him finally feeling accepted. He loves Marissa, she has become an asset to our family and daily life over these years. She has changed our family for the better. I have never seen someone love their job more, and do it with a smile on her face. We have seen her three days a week for a long time as I mentioned above, and she greeted my son as if he was the only around. She changed him, loved him, and helped him find his voice. Marissa is our forever angel. Don’t question the decision to go with her. Take the leap and trust her process. If she can’t help, then she will go above and behind to find the right person for your child. But I doubt you will have too. She has a special gift. We will Miss her as part of our weekly routine, but looking forward to seeing our sons future as an intelligible speaker. Thanks Marissa, you changed his life and ours."
