Optum OB/GYN - Lake Success

"My wife is now at 39+ weeks. Had an appointment today at 1:30 for a routine exam. It is now 2:20 and the doctor still has not shown up. What’s the point of making an appointment? It doesn’t appear to be busy here, by the way."

"Doctors are nice and knowledgeable, esp my primary OB Dr. Chen. But the receptionists are horrible. They’re rude and constantly make mistakes in regards to appointments. I had Dr. Olier for one of my pregnancy visits and apparently she wasn’t available that day. I was thankfully seen by Dr. Chen because I had the glucose test that day but a lot of people were turned back as they walked in. I also dropped off my parental leave form at my 28 week visit and still don’t have it back and I’m 31weeks now. I need to submit it at least 1-2months prior to delivery and wonder if I will ever get back. Karen used to handle leave forms (she was great. She took no longer than a week) and she is no longer there and the manager Christine is in charge now who is impossible to get in touch with. I feel like after Optum took over the office everything, esp when it comes to paperworks and appointments, has been way worse."

"Terrible experience. They booked me with the doctor I requested, Dr. Chen. Then a day prior to my appointment the call center called and left a voicemail saying they double Booked me. I called back the next day, and got the office. They blamed me saying you sure you didn’t call and cancel? Yes. I’m sure I didn’t call and cancel I needed this appointment. They got me booked with another doctor 4 weeks later. I just left that appointment in tears. The doctor wouldn’t listen to any of my concerns, I couldn’t get a word in edgewise either. She sent me for a follow up and I was at the front desk checking out and wanted to ask her a question, and they wouldn’t bring the doctor out. So now I am clueless as to why or what this follow up at another doctor is for."

"I’ll preface this by saying I absolutely adore my OBGYN Dr.Chen, she is kind, knowledgeable and an overall excellent physician. I would give her five stars any day. The issue is with the front desk staff, there is a young lady that is extremely unprofessional. On the day of my appointment my mom came in with me and we misunderstood the policy. Instead of calling me over and explaining the policy she proceeded to yell the policy. Totally uncalled for, and embarrassing. I work for a hospital and understand policy especially now, I would never want to break it. I don’t have an issue with her saying something my issue is with the way in which she handled it. Perhaps she needs a refresher in customer service and tact. I’m sure Northwell prides itself on providing an exceptional customer service experience to its patients on every encounter, she definitely missed the mark on this one. Again, 5 stars for Dr. Chen. I highly recommend her."

"I have been going to this practice for 18 years. Every single doctor and nurse is fabulous. Their staff are very professional and helpful. I trusted them completely with my first pregnancy and now with my 2nd. Depending on time of day, the wait times can be long, but they are up front about this when you check in and let you know an approximate time it's going to be instead. I just use this time to get work done in my car and then they call me. This practice is affiliated with one of the top maternity hospitals in the country...it's worth the wait time."
