"First, I must admit that it's really tough to schedule an appointment with the doctor. For the initial outpatient visit, I had to wait in line for a year to see the doctor. But finally, after I managed to meet the doctor, you could feel that the physician is like a part of your family, watching your child grow up. Recently, with Rite Aid closing and Concerta going out of stock, it's been very challenging to obtain the needed medication. In the past week, I've been calling the hospital almost 2-3 times a day to change pharmacies or medications, and some of the ladies who answered the calls have been incredibly helpful. Their empathy has eased the frustration of obtaining medication."
"Spoke with someone back in January regarding scheduling daughter for an appointment. Filled out all Paperwork was told by receptionist who states they can see her in March. Sent a follow up email in March due to not being able to get through to anyone on the phone. It's now May and the testing requested by my daughters pediatrician and school still has not been done due to not being able to get an appointment."
"We have to do better for our children. This place is not it. Could not schedule an appointment until I filled out 60+ pages of paperwork, which by the time your appointment is finally made is irrelevant 9 months later. Children develop so quickly and time is of the essence, but the “professionals” and the administration at this medical center fail to recognize that. We finally started seeing Dr. Gutman and we were getting somewhere, but I’m pretty sure even she was fed up, because she left. Now, they are scrambling to treat her patients. The portal is useless, because I couldn’t verify myself, but you can never get through to fix it. Anytime you try to email devpedsforms after no one returns your call, they take the time to give a condescending response and the same “number you should call” where they “take a message for the doctor, but never get a callback. It’s an endless cycle while your family is left to suffer with whatever behaviors or issues or medications you went to them to get help for in the first place. The doctors are probably so overworked they don’t have time to return calls. Who knows?"
"It took us a number of months to get an appointment here, but unfortunately that's true with all developmental pediatricians nationally - there's just an extreme shortage of practitioners. My friends in NYC and in other states report the same thing. Setting that aside, I have been working with this practice for over a year and have been extremely happy with the diagnostic process and care my child has received from Dr. Chen. She's very thorough, communicates clearly and is always available to talk when we need to. I have a high bar for doctors and she's been excellent - I highly recommend her!"
"It took us an entire year to get an appointment for our son and at the end of it he was diagnosed with autism. I called back to do a follow up appointment because his teachers wanted him to get tested for ODD and ADHD. The follow up appointment is eight months from now!!!! They’re not even going to help him at the follow appointment she just wants to speak to him so she could suggest a doctor he can go see who will diagnose him for ODD or ADHD. How do you make a child wait eight months just so you can go send him someplace else she’s not even going to help him!!! This place is absolutely ridiculous!!!"
