"WARNING!!! Gave my Aunt/Godmother's care over to the Guardianship Project in NY, which is run by the VERA Institute of Justice, as I lived in Colorado and she was in NY and I could not care for her and keeping her in her home at her advanced age and with dementia was important. Under their care a rapidly growing melanoma grew on her face during my three month absence. NOTHING was done and wouldn't have if I had not come to visit., And actually the aids told me it was only an infected skin tag?? Then furniture, large furniture, was being broken.Talked to the lawyer running the case and who was also the head lawyer for the Guardianship project. He said no one knew how it happened. I mean a woman with dementia and three aids and no one knows how the damage happens??? Was told by the case court examiner I should go to the police. I wrote the Lawyer feeling that was a bit much to go to the police but large pieces of broken furniture with no explanation was scary; and this was his reply; and I quote from the email he sent : " Fine Peter, you will get your way. We will litigate this as you wish. Let this be a notice that we will make an application to retain counsel, and as there are not sufficient funds to do this and repay your expenses, to immediately cease reimbursement for all future travel. This will likely mean we will have to reduce the time Sally is able to stay in the apartment, but at least you will have the piece of mind about who legally owns the furniture. Please let us know when you have filed the police report." and then when she passed and her Jewelry went missing and I questioned this was his second response::: " As per our duties under Article 81 we will be submitting a Statement of Assets and Notice of Claims that will address the issue of the missing ring and incorporates the statements of the care providers as to its last known whereabouts. We will of course include what information we have about your clear searching of the apartment and occupancy after Sally’s passing, as well as your inappropriate behavior towards the aides and our staff when they entered the apartment after her death. " The odd thing in this threat is that I was the only inheritor so why would I steal from myself??? All the above is documented in emails from the attorney who runs the Guardianship Project. His two superiors at Vera were in total support of his actions. Even scarier considering the mission statement of VERA.. There was NO justice for my Aunt/ Godmother here at the Guardianship Project that is run by the Vera Institute of Justice.. BEWARE"
