"THIS IS NOT A REVIEW OF THE OFFICE OR DR. HORNBERGER...It is a heads up and criticism of one of the staff at the Boston Office. I have been going to Schutz Opitcal for quite a few years now, and have never experienced any concerns with my treatment until recently. There is a staff member there who is totally inappropriate and unprofessional and the company should seriously look into re-evaluating her performance. Her name is Kate. I recently experienced problems with the glasses that I got from Davis Vision through the Schutz, Boston Office, and so I came in to get another look at what might be going on. Since it had been awhile since I got the glasses and prescription, I volunteered to pay for another exam so that we were up to speed with my vision concerns. I was first abruptly 'reprimanded' that it had been SO LONG since my last exam that she said 'I should have spoken up sooner!' How did she know that I had not, how dare her reprimand me like I was a child. Then she proceeded to TRY to help me oh so reluctantly. I literally should have stood up and walked out and not succumbed to her reprimands or critiicisms...but I tried to squelch my inner voice. She then directed me to the 'bargain rack' and told me that I had to choose from only this rack because that was all that Davis might cover. I told her that Davis would only cover these frames/glasses but that I could use my Independent Health discount and pay for my own (she didn't seem to like that I had done my own research). The remainder of my experience working with her on this part of the process was ... less than pleasant. And now that I've had the glasses a few weeks to see how they are working for me...I came back in, with another concern which is valid, and causes me to compomise my vision. And I had to see Kate because she was the only one in the Office that day... I told her that I was having trouble seeing out of my left lens...and what made it better (in my opinion) ... and she said that she didn't know how she was going to ask the company to correct such a request. I said well what can we do? Isn't the goal for me to be able to see?? I hate to complain, and if you really knew me you would know that it is not in my nature to do so, but this person needs to know that she is totally out of line and a detriment to this fine Company and Office."
