"Steer clear! I received Moh's surgery in June where they took way more than necessary on the first pass, leaving me scarred. My mother has had this surgery elsewhere 10 times on her face and never needed stiches and had no scarring as they would only take one layer and biopsy. This place takes 3 layers first pass. The other issue I have had is that they did not get prior authorization from my insurance company so their claim was denied in July. When I followed up with them, they stated they were waiting to hear from my insurance company. They wouldn't accept my EOB as proof that it was denied for prior authorization, nor would they contact the insurance company. Because of this, I have had to contact both the insurance company and the billing department from September through January to finally get UNC to acknowledge they received the denial. My insurance company said they can submit a retro prior authorization and resubmit the claim to be paid. UNC will not do that. They are stating they need to review it for 45 days with a specialty team, when Anthem has already told them what they need to do. Because of this ineptitude, I have lost my ability to appeal the decision with Anthem and it has messed up all remaining claims for 2023, while also not allowing me to pay with my FSA money as it has taken too long for them to bill me. I feel awful for those that cannot advocate for themselves. This is a truly unacceptable and uncaring way to treat patients. I will NEVER return here."
"I have had 2 procedures done here by Dr. Brad Merritt. The 1st was Basal Cell Carcinoma and the second was a benign tumor on my leg. Both times were a great experience, and I'm very grateful for the care that I received. Thank you."
