"I have been a patient at FWC for many years. I was an OB patient while pregnant with my first two children and was happy with my treatment so naturally when I got pregnant a decade later, I returned. I am at a loss for words with Ms Susan Glass. My care throughout my pregnancy was great, no complaints with any of my physicians. Being excited parents, we had an elective 3D sonogram to see our beautiful baby girl. The technician pointed out some concerns, she was unable to see my daughters lower jaw and I returned to my OB and had another sonogram by Ms Glass, who was very dismissive and quickly said, “I see nothing wrong, everything looks fine” and she pretty much wrote us off. Couple of months later, have my baby and baby has MULTIPLE physical mutations. Shortened forearms and fused elbows, severe retrognathia and severe micrognathia, multicystic dysplastic kidney, etc. ALL of which is detectable by sonogram. My daughter has a genetic mutation of the SF3B4 gene, called Nager Syndrome, which causes many physical malformations and she had to have an emergency tracheostomy performed at birth. We spent five weeks in the NCCU at UNC Children’s Hospital. It has been almost six years since then and my daughter is doing amazing. Still has a trach and many other “accessories” but life is grand. Had Ms Glass noticed anything of concern on the sonogram, it wouldn’t have changed anything about my baby girls diagnosis at all, but it would have given us an opportunity to be prepared for our new lives as very special needs parents. We weren’t prepared for anything at all, we were completely blindsided because we put our trust in Susan Glass.
