"Had a high risk pregnancy. Absolute trainwreck. Spouse overseas. Last pregnancy was adoption. I felt so comfortable with this clinics approach with my pregnancy. Thank You Dr. Be blessed"
"I realize most females have their children as a single parent. Not only did I have the caring compassionate team of this practice take me in on their team; they explained all medical concerns in layman's terms for me. Bless every staff member on this Medical team...may your medical practice and it's wondrous works prosper in all your faithful and hardworking endeavors."
"I agree with all the reviews that say you are just another number. Also none of the staff is on the same page and will tell you multiple different things. The midwife scheduled my anatomy scan for 19 weeks well the lady at the front desk refused to make it before 20 weeks and lied and said they didn't have anything open until then. My husband is military and will be gone for the scan now that they refused to schedule me when the midwife had said. I literally waited over 2 hours in the waiting room to be able to ask the midwife a 30 second question which the medical assistant said I would have to pay for. I never would of had to come up here had they answered my message I sent days ago. The lady at the front desk has a nasty attitude. They don't care about you and are definitely not military friendly."
"Where do I begin..5 years ago I had my daughter with Dr. Ponder. It was questionable in the beginning as another Dr, was leaving to start her own practice and I didn't care for her. I decided to stay and was ultimately satisfied with my treatment and found him to be very personable and easy to talk to. My daughters delivery on his part was great and when I found out I was pregnant again decided to go back to his office. This time I waited hours for appointments, there were so many people being seen and the atmosphere started to change as I was ultimately becoming just another number. I ran into some complications (TIA, requiring hospitalization) during pregnancy and at the time felt he did his part to make sure baby and I were safe and healthy. I continued to see him and was monitored close, then came the day of delivery. I went into labor on my own but was scheduled for c section. He left me in triage to labor for hours with no pain meds. I was 5 cm when he said he had one c section ahead of me then he would be right back to take me in. Another 2 hours go by and an OR nurse mentioned how ridiculous and inhumane it was to leave me crying quietly on the bed in so much pain when I hadn't opted for a natural delivery. SHE got me into a room and had them give me an epidural. The next thing I know a Dr, I had never seen before came in and introduced himself as the person who would be delivering my son. There was no explanation on where Dr. Ponder had gone, but I was ready to meet my son so I didn't question it then. The Dr. who delivered Hudson was great, however right after his birth he was diagnosed with trisomy 21, and a congenital heart defect. I laid on the OR table as a strangers words changed my life forever. Where was the Dr. that I chose? Our son struggled to exist and went on to spend 308 days at Duke as he underwent multiple open heart surgeries and such. Dr. Ponder never offered an apology or explanation...I am disgusted at the lack of courtesy extended and shortage of empathy during my sons birth and the 2 weeks we were in the NICU before he was sent to Duke. He had plenty of time to attempt to make it right. How did his practice miss this diagnosis when I specifically asked during ultrasounds to check for such markers? We also have Tricare and were told we needed to pay for my sons circumcision in advance, which we did. Come to find out Tricare does indeed cover the procedure and because my son was never stable enough to have it done I was to be reimbursed. While watching my son battle for his life 2 hours away from home I had to continuously call to have them issue the refund, each time it was "on the way in 2-4 weeks". It wasn't until we were finally discharged from Duke that I was able to go in person (obviously my calls were pointless). I brought my 4 year old and 6 month old to the clinic in the rain carrying with me his oxygen tank and carrier. What an inconvenience for something that should have been handled months ago with ONE phone call. The office manager (I'm pretty sure his wife) eventually came from the back and handed me the check while uttering a "ehmm" of inconvenience, like I had just asked her to spend 4 hours folding the check into some elaborate origami shape. She didn't say a word but I spoke my mind to the receptionist who I have always had good rapport with. She assured me that Dr. ponder would probably be calling me because there is no way he would want a patient to feel the way I did. Guess what? Yup, still waiting on that call 7 months later! Continuing to trust this office had my best interest in mind for my last pregnancy was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made. If you are looking for someone to step up when things "go wrong" keep looking. I would never recommend this practice and would love nothing more than to prevent another mom from sharing my story, and it doesn't hurt for him to realize what a negative impact he had on what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life. He failed me and our son, don't let him fail you too."
"I am sad to write this review, 5 years ago this office was amazing. They really cared about their patients needs. I am pregnant again, and now whether you have medicaid or something else, they treat you as a payment. I am currently seeking a new OB. I am 14 weeks pregnant. If you don't mind getting treated as just a number, then go here. Otherwise don't."
