"I hate to give a negative review for anything, but I see all the marketing that Station Nine does and don’t want prospective renters to get the impression that S9 is a good complex. The apartments are not nice, many people need to follow up extensively for maintenance requests, and the apartments are priced really high given the value. S9 houses a lot of MBA candidates who want to live close or on 9th Street. If you are really looking to live close to other MBA students, I’d recommend looking at other buildings in the area and rental homes."
"Spent some great time of my life at Station nine during my MBA at Duke University. Made new friends and lots of sweet memories. The apartment complex has everything. Swimming pool, gym, pet shower room, common play room, basketball - the list goes on. The management is very prompt in solving any issues that crop up. Best part is they promptly refunded the deposit - no cut - when I left the place. Such a great location. Right across the street from Harris Teeter. My apartment was at ground floor and opened up to a private garden. Never had any complaints here."
"Accommodation and location is fine. However management have very little care for residents, particularly for managing noise. This year there is a huge construction project going on next to one side of the building and management have done nothing to help residents that are routinely disturbed from 7am, though to 5pm every weekday. Moreover, there was not even warning this construction would be happening. Residents should be given the opportunity to know that they will not be able to work from their apartments before signing a one year lease!"
"My girlfriend will be attending Duke in the fall and reached out to this apartment complex. She was told that there were a few 1 bedroom units available in her price range ($1600-$1700) and was assured that they would be available before she spent the close to $200 non-refundable application fee. Alas, she chose the unit she liked, began the application process and then radio silence. Eventually the leasing office reached back out and informed her that there was a unit available and would be first come first serve, expect the unit was over $2000 per month. The moral of the story is that these fees are non-refundable and there aren't many, if any laws that protect applicants in these situations. You may be told that there is a unit available, apply, and still end up without a unit."
"Living at Station Nine was a generally pleasant experience. They have some good deals if you move in during the popular summer months like June or July. The quality of the apartments is fine for the most part, but there are some annoyances like loud air conditioning during the summer and thin enough ceilings to where I could hear my upstairs neighbor stomping around often. These weren't a major annoyance though. The worst part for me was the huge, loud pool parties in the summer that have 100+ people that were right outside my window since I lived next to the pool. Most of the apartments in the complex probably didn't have to hear the parties, but it was not pleasant for me. Despite these negatives I enjoyed my stay here. The staff are definitely the best part. They made me feel welcome from the very start and helped me eagerly with anything I needed. They are super nice and make living there a good experience. I can't say enough good stuff about them. Overall, I'd recommend living here, but try to get an apartment away from the pool."
