"You DO NOT Save Money shopping at Save-A-Lot. The store LLC owners, need to change the name. Everything sold within Save-A-Lot, is more expensive(sometimes...much more), than surrounding grocery stores. When it first moved-into Rome, New York, I was impressed with the products & prices, and being conveniently within walking distance of home. Then, a LLC company took ownership, and screwed all customers on the store's logo. You don't save any money. Not a penny. Frozen fish, is farm raised. And it's more expensive at Save-A-Lot, than frozen fish at other grocery stores. What's worse, you can purchase fresh fish, per pound, at other stores, and save a few dollars. Garlic bread. Yes, garlic bread. Save-A-Lot, has the highest price for frozen garlic bread in all of Rome, New York. Same with butter(still selling at post-pandemic price), many, manyother products at Save-A-Lot, are inconveniently a dollar, and over a dollar, more than local grocery stores(Aldi, Market 32, Walmart, Dollar General). Produce(vegetables), are less-than-fresh. Romaine lettuce is typically rusted, and sold for more than what the other popular groceries sell lettuce for. Fruit typically goes bad in a very short-time if purchased from Save-A-Lot. Bananas, oranges, apples. Two days in your home and they're over-ripe. The prices at Save-A-Lot are quite ludicrous for the customers that Save-A-Lot caters to: low-income, food stamps, senior citizens. You will certainly exhaust your food stamps within a couple weeks, purchasing food at Save-A-Lot. The store brand, must be in serious financial trouble or the LLC holders, are overly greedy. I can purchase the same products(labeled differently) at Walmart or Aldi, that I could purchase at Save-A-Lot, and generally save ten, twelve, fourteen dollars per-week. To most, that's pocket change, but if you're low-income, it's a-lot of money to save when shopping. Lastly. Worse in-store music. Not everyone wants to be listening to rap or rock music while shopping. calming, attentive instrumental music would suffice. And many many times I've entered the Rome, NY Save-A-Lot, and had the reeking pleasure of marijuana. Smoke that garbage outside or discard customers that reek of it. Just nasty. Be smart. Save-A-Lot is convenient if you live nearby, and need last-minute items. You won't save any money. That's a Save-A-Lot gimmick. False-advertising. You want to save money...shop elsewhere."
"They have the things no one else does like chittlins, oxtail, hamhocks, smoked turkey necks, wings n legs.. etc etc Along with dry goods, its Food you can afford.."
"The store in Rome was so bad. I got it to do all my shopping. I went in this Sunday. Boxes was all over the place. It looked like a jackyard and there. Boxes was all over the place and it looke this so bad or not. I'm going to shower, but you guys need to get more. People I know that are more responsible and can't stay there. I'm working in."
"Love, love this store. Prices are low, meat selection of good quality. Can vegetables cheaper than any other store. You have to pack up into boxes or bag's but well worth it."
"I don't know if anyone's notice lately but all the food is getting worse. Food is looking faker and faker. Yeah it's always clean inside and well stocked. I think I'd rather nothing compared to that cheap food that is fake or at least loaded with nasty stuff"
