"5 stars if you want to do something: mountain bike riding, skate, play ultimate frisbee, tennis etc. It truly is a wonderful place for teens and adults to move around in. But a 0-2 stars if you want to just leisurely exist: you will die of heatstroke because there is little shade, you’ll be be ducking balls and frisbees the whole time, all of the space is designated for a specific activity of some sort, and the rest of the space it’s a minefield of doggy chocolate surprises. Every problem has a solution though! Freedom park is SO gorgeous and better suited for a lazy afternoon surrounded by blooming scenery. Gather for a picnic, starfish on the grass, walk around the pond, etc! Renn park is closer but I make the drive to enjoy Freedom instead."
"Lovely park where you can see the beauty of Nature! Easy trails. You can see some birds, and hear different kinds of chirping. I enjoyed my walk there!"
"Went for the first time to take my dogs to the dog park and see how they would respond to other dogs. They did fantastic and had a blast. They have two fenced in areas one for big dogs, and one for small dogs... My small dog wanted to hang with the big dogs so he did... They have tennis balls all around out in the field that you can throw around for your dogs to go retrieve if they so desire. They also have a built-in fountain for the dogs to get a drink of water whenever they need to. The park also has restrooms that I did not use although it's nice that they have them. And they also have a huge section of volleyball pits and another big area set up for people with skateboards or they can do stunts and go up inclines. Definitely will come back again to explore more and see what else they have available and will update accordingly."
"Beautiful park with many facilities. From tennis to basketball and even two high quality disc golf courses. If you are traveling through Charlotte this is definitely a good option to stop and play. Though there is no shortage of amazing wishlist quality courses. Just be sure to make your lines here or you will be very deep in the woods."
"The park is magnificent. At the time I went (4p), it was clean and had great weather. Elements such as The open walking trail, the ballparks, volleyball court and dog parks were splendid. I would recommend anyone who has a dog, a hunch for outdoor sports, or just doing some outside exercise!"
